Nationalized Healthcare: An Aspirin on Steroids

C. L. Collins
Why does the U.S. government, namely the liberals and most democrats, think that government is the solution for our healthcare ills? Their intervention will be the real "ill" and not your own health ills.

Need more solutions to the health ills in your life-then I give you the federal government. Nice to know that, isn't it?

There are so many absurd abstract mandates in this healthcare bill that it would make Karl Marx proud.

Ever been stuck in a traffic-jam because of an accident somewhere down the highway that in most cases, you cannot see-let alone wonder how long it will be before the traffic gets moving again? Then I welcome you to Nationalized Healthcare, where the government will know how long your medical traffic-jam will be, not you.

And cost? They say we'll just tax the evil rich people and we will all dance in happy land, wherever that is but the problem is, rich people only have so much money and it's not like their wealth will keep on increasing like our national debt. Or better yet, the rich will simply become the average middle-class citizen and then what?

The largest citizen tax-base in America happens to be the middle-class and the poor combined with the middle class being the largest of the pie. Didn't know that now did you? Combine Bill Gates of Microsoft and investor Warren Buffet's riches and you barely pay for an ice cream cone for ten people. Not a flattering outlook is it?

But wait, the liberals do have an idea to help cover these costs-all who have terminal illnesses or costly diseases-- the end of life solution to the rescue; you can see this little dandy of an idea on pages 424-434; 624 of this nationalized healthcare bill. They will be a financial drain on this wonderful government healthcare plan so hook up a tube and start digging.

And let's not forget about Grandma and Grandpa. They will get evaluated if they are over age 65 and what does that mean? They are just old, need to be evaluated, may have a disease but that doesn't matter because they will get one anyway-age will do that to you; that will become too cumbersome for the rest of us, so under the bus grandma and grandpa go. Another nice plan, Democrats-I believe Adolf Hitler will rise from the dead with that idea.

As I stated before, Democrats are shouting at the top of their lungs that there are ways to pay for it and keep costs under control. Has anyone really bought into that-yes, believe it or not they do exist, sad but true. Massachusetts sure hasn't bought it and has shot that "shout" down to a whisper.

Costs to the state of Massachusetts have climbed; tripled in cost since its inception. Thousands of its state's citizens have paid fines for not being insured; thousands more of those who got health insurance struggled to find a doctor; and best yet, the average fine (tax penalty) is about $1000 for those who are uninsured for an entire year-yes, a grand ladies and gentlemen and did it help the state, or for that matter, the socialized state health insurance? Not a chance-like a fly stuck in oil.

But the real poster-child of government run healthcare happened in fairy land Los Angeles, California where for forty-years, LA's most vulnerable, low-income people suffered a great deal because the county couldn't run the King-Harbor Hospital designed for this class of people, properly and now the Federal government wants to run healthcare on a national level? The case concerning the King-Harbor Hospital is too long and complicated to explain here-- about like trying to find out if liberals have real college degrees or just printed out something on their laser printer.

What do we see that is similar in both cases? The "Yes We Can" crowd and this is before those three words were on the back of car bumpers and those words still sting my ears.

Remember in the old days when standing at the DMV took forever that cramps developed in your legs and when you finally made it to the counter, the person had the nerve to ask you if you are okay because they noticed your limp? Get ready for those cramps again and this time, it might not be a cramp in your leg as you wait in line to see the doctor or get treated for that matter-the letters ER will whiz passed you before you can even say, "What happened" as you collapse to the floor with a heart attack in full swing-the reason you came there to begin with.

I am getting a warm and fuzzy feeling that ambulance companies profits will explode if this bill passes--IPO anyone?

People get various types of insurance to protect themselves against various not-so-nice events that may happen in the course of their lifetime but it is specific to a need and nothing less or more. All types of insurance addresses the needs on various levels and in nearly all cases, no two policies are alike-it will be if this healthcare bill passes.

This is the same for individuals and their healthcare needs. I don't have the slightest incentive to pay for someone's Viagra pills no more than I would pay for someone else's mortgage or car loan.

One other point that doesn't seem to fit the mainstream liberal media agenda in calling to question--is this even constitutional and why has it not been brought up and discussed? What about privacy rights?

You know, back in the 60s, the US Supreme Court rolled out the rights to privacy and in several cases, such as Griswold v. Connecticut and the infamous case, the 1973 Roe V. Wade, the court ruled with privacy rights as its central core. If it applied with those cases, why is it not being applied to this nationalized socialist healthcare legislation? We'd like to think that the liberals or even Washington in general would know the US Constitution--I bet a lobbyist can find you a copy.

Let's not forget one's protection of self-preserved liberty under the 14th Amendment; can't let that one slip through the cracks.

Now we are left with take an aspirin and call us in the morning; the real aspirin better be on steroids because you'll need it or better yet, better call an ambulance for those hemorrhoids.

Let us decide what we need for health insurance and healthcare that suits our individual needs-now this is "change" I can believe in.
