Daily:
Wash two to three time a day with a natural soap that follows this ONE RULE: If you can't pronounce an ingredient, don't buy the product - because that ingredient is probably a contact allergen.
Follow with witch hazel to control bacteria. If you can't get witch hazel, you can use apple cider vinegar or lemon juice.
Rub some vegetable oil, such as extra-virgin olive oil, sunflower oil or coconut oil, on your skin. Allow to soak in for 10 minutes and wipe of excess with a clean cotton cloth.
Weekly:
Exfoliate: When you wash your face, once a week add one tablespoon of baking soda to your soapy face. Scrub, but not too hard. The goal is to remove dead skin cells, not the living ones. If you are having an outbreak based on hormones, you can do this up to three times a week. This is an irritating process, so don't over-do it or you'll increase sebum production and end up breaking out worse.
Healing Mask:
1/2 cup powdered oats (just powder plain oatmeal in a blender)
1/4 cup honey
1/2 teaspoon clear oil (for example: sunflower, olive, jojoba, hemp)
Mix the ingredients in a dish. Add enough water to make a paste. Warm your skin and open pores with warm compresses. Apply to skin and leave on for 10 minutes or more.
Rinse. Rub a tiny bit of liquid vegetable oil on normally dry areas. Wipe off any excess oil after 10 minutes.
Quick Fix to Reduce Swollen Monster-Zits
Sometimes you'll get pimples down in deep that swell, are red and painful - of course this will happen right before a date! Here's what you can do:2/10/2008
Don't try to pop it, drain it or anything. But, even if you did and it's swollen worse, this will fix it pretty quick.
Apply warm compresses (hot water on a rag) to increase blood flow to remove the fluids for 15 minutes. Follow with an ice pack for 10 minutes. Do another 15 minutes with warm compresses, then another 10 minute ice pack.
Problem all gone.

Post a Commentby scrubbing too hard and using cleansers, you disturb the skin's acid mantle, and it has to work very hard to restore this natural protection. I use non-chemical sunscreen only when outdoors and my daily layer of protection against environmental pollutants is a face-oil blend of organic, cold-pressed jojoba, organic lavender essential oil, and cold-pressed sea-buckthorn oil. My make-up, when I choose to wear any, is loose mineral make-up. That's it folks!
I didn't suffer from acne until, at 17 yrs old, I was told by a well-meaning employee at a certain chain of bath/beauty products that I NEEDED a bunch of products for a proper skin care routine. After those products upset my skin I continued trying a multitude of other products which only exacerbated the problem for many years. I'm 38 yrs old. I had a flawless complexion as a teen, I now believe, because I just left my skin to take care of itself. Of course eating properly, exercise and drinking lots of water does give you a healthy glow. And yes I do know that hormonal imbalances can cause otherwise clear skin to act up. You still have to treat your skin gently. I cleansed only with a facecloth and warm, not hot, water most nights or just rinsed my face with warm water if I had no make-up on. I now use this simple but effective regimen again. Try a microfibre facial mitt or a bamboo(my current favorite) cleansing cloth/ mitt. It's very gentle. When you treat the skin aggressivel
