Natural Beauty Tips for Women of All Ages

Monica Bullock
The natural beauty of women has been the inspiration of poets, playwrights and songwriters for millennia. Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "Pretty is something you're born with. But beautiful, that's an equal opportunity adjective." Beauty is more than skin deep but the natural beauty doesn't rely on Mother Nature alone. Women of all ages use simple, ordinary beauty tricks to enhance their looks. You can get natural good looks too!

Get glowing skin: Glowing skin isn't just for pregnant women and pre-teens. Get a subtle, healthy glow by following the five steps of skin care: cleanse, exfoliate, tone, moisture and protect.

Apply daily humectants: As we mentioned earlier, moisture is necessary for pretty skin. Use a lotion that contains humectants. Humectants draw moisture into your skin and keep it there.

Eat a good diet: It's true that you are what you eat. Fried foods, loads of sugar and processed junk produces toxins that make your skin look "blah." Freshen up your beauty with leafy greens, citrus fruits and a well-balanced diet. Wheat bread, pasta and brown rice are also recommended for natural beauties.

Lovely lips: Lips are the star of the natural beauty's face. Lip skin needs love too. Apply a small amount of lip exfoliant to your lips. Rub the lips for a few seconds, then rinse. Apply a touch of petroleum jelly for protective shine. Make your own lip scrub by blending a teaspoon of honey with a tablespoon of baking soda. Rub it on your lips to remove dry, ugly skin flakes.

Nude colors: Being natural does not mean you cannot use cosmetics. However, the cosmetics should blend with your natural skin tones, like sexy camouflage. For example, nude, tan and vanilla eye shadows make eyes sparkle. Avoid using noticeable products that contain shimmer or glitter.

Even your skin tone: Unprotected skin may respond negatively to sunrays. When skin cells sense an overdose of UV rays, it rushes the spot to heal it. Unfortunately, this skin cell activity brings melanin, a dark pigment that rarely distributes itself evenly. Even out skin tone by applying lemon juice to the brown spots several times a week. Always protect your skin when stepping outdoors, even briefly.

Shiny means healthy: Touch cheeks, lips and eyelids with a dab of petroleum jelly. A little shine looks pretty on the skin and adds needed moisture to the skin. Don't be heavy-handed with petroleum jelly or you could end up looking greasy.
