Natural Bug Repellent: Avoid Those Pesky Bug Bites with This All-Natural Oil Blend

Phyllis Cunningham
Listen, can you hear those buzzing biting insects in the air? They have you targeted for a prime source of dinner. What if I told you that you could slow the effect of those painful pests with a simple soothing blend of essential oils? This blend is safe for the entire family. I have used it for myself, my children, and even the tiniest of my grandchildren each year. This mixture is perfection, and you get the added benefit of soft moisturized skin all through the summer months when having exposed supple skin is so important.

There once was a time when my husband was afraid to use my all-natural concoction. He swore that he would smell too pretty if he used it. But by the summer's end and after being plagued by biting flies, mosquitoes, ticks and fleas he changed his mind and finally accepted the relief that my formula could offer him.

I hate buying products that I know are poisoning my skin and stinks to boot! My recipe Bug Off does smell nice, but most of all it works. We stay pest free all season and most importantly, I am not slathering or spraying an unsafe product on my skin.

These ingredients can be easily found at your local health store. Be sure you get Essential Oils and not simply fragrance oil. You will not get the benefits Essential Oils will give you.

What you will need:

A 4 ounce dark bottle

A carrier oil such as: olive, avocado, or sweet almond oil.

Lavender essential oil

Geranium essential oil

Cedar wood essential oil

Vitamin E oil

Fill the 4 ounce bottle to ¾ full with the carrier oil of your choice.

Add 5 drops each of the lavender and geranium essential oils and 3 drops of cedar wood and vitamin E oil. Top off the 4 ounce bottle with carrier oil, shake the bottle to blend and you're set.

If you use the heavier olive oil as your carrier this blend will be better suited to a bath oil. If you use a lighter carrier, after your shower but before you towel off, massage into your wet skin. Lightly pat dry with a towel.

Always keep your Essential Oils covered. Essential Oils lose potency when exposed to air.

Again, this recipe will be beneficial to you and your family for years to come. You will be delighted with the moisturizing effects.
