Natural Cleaning Products Review

Cleaning Products that Will Keep Your Home and Your Family Safe

Anna
When I was seven months pregnant with my first son, I became obsessed with cleaning. I had to clean every day to insure that my house was perfect for the arrival of my new baby. One afternoon, while furiously wiping down the bathroom, I accidentally inhaled a fume cloud of Scrubbing Bubbles. In that very moment, with a growing baby inside of me, I began to wonder what exactly was in that cloud? Was it going to hurt my baby? Could the chemicals in that little, green can permanently damage some part of his growing body? As a first time mom-to-be, I took great care of myself throughout my pregnancy. I ate all of the proper foods, I drank plenty of water, I avoided deli meats like the plague and I always took my prenatal vitamins. Now, I was beginning to fret over the fact that I had used these cleaning products throughout my entire pregnancy. I proceeded to the linen closet, where I bagged up all of my cleaning products and tossed them into the trash. From that day forward, my search for all-natural, non-toxic cleaning products began. Initially, there weren't many options. Most of them smelled horrible, a mix between a rotten orange and patchouli oil. Not a scent that I was too fond of. However, times are a changin' and companies are actually starting to make cleaning products that are good for you and the environment. at an affordable price. Long gone are the days of stinky citrus. Now you can find numerous products that smell great and work great. My obsession with cleaning continues to this day and because of that obsession, I have narrowed down the work for you. I have tried every all-natural cleaning product available to me and below you will find reviews for my top three picks.

Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day Cleaners

These are my absolute favorite. They come in a variety of scents that smell wonderful and do a wonderful job of cleaning . You can chose from Basil, Lavender, Lemon Verbena, Geranium and Baby Blossom. Lavender is my favorite scent. My house smells wonderful every time I clean with it. The great thing about their products is that you can use one scent to clean your entire house. No more intermingling of different smells. They make toilet bowl cleaner, dish soap, counter top spray, shower cleaner and even laundry soap in the scents mentioned above. Mrs. Meyer's products are all-natural, are almost all bio-degradable and are not tested on animals. The cleaning power of all of their products are just as good as the cleaning products ladened with chemicals. The only complaint I have is the price. They are a little more expensive than your average cleaning product. You can find her products in stores like Ace Hardware, Linens and Things, Whole Foods Market and Bed, Bath and Beyond. You can check out their website for more information at www.mrsmeyers.com/.

Simply Safe

I happened upon Simply Safe at Target recently. Simply Safe was created by a man, Matt Pliszka, who actually worked in the industrial formulation industry as a chemist. He knows first hand what these cleaning products contain and decided to make one that was safe and affordable for all. I have only cleaned with their rain scented, all-purpose cleaner. The all-purpose cleaner worked better than any cleaner I have used and it smells wonderful. It leaves a light fresh scent throughout the house. They also pride themselves on using non-hazardous ingredients, recyclable plastic and ingredients that are not damaging to the environment. Their products also range from all-purpose cleaner to toilet bowl cleaner. I believe that most of their cleaning products are only available through their website, however, I found the all-purpose cleaner at Target and I know that they sell many of their products at several stores throughout the Midwest. Their website is www.simplysafecleaners.com/. As their company grows, I believe that their products will be available to a wider public.

Clorox Green Works

This is another great product. Clorox Green Works comes in an all-purpose cleaner, glass cleaner, bathroom cleaner and toilet bowl cleaner. These products work wonderfully. The only complaint I have with Green Works is the scent. It is not as pleasant as the first two brands mentioned. It tends to lend itself to more of a citrus scent, a smell that I am not too fond of. It gets the job done, however. The toilet bowl cleaner was able to remove rust stains in my toilet that even industrial strength products couldn't do. Their glass cleaner is fabulous and does not leave the typical streaking that seems problematic with most natural cleaners. Since Green Works is made by Clorox it is readily available at Wal-Mart, Safeway, etc. You can check out their website at www.greenworkscleaners.com/.

All of these products are fairly affordable and will make your home cleaner and safer for the entire family.
