Natural Disasters: Signs of the Apocalypse or Global Warming?

JC
The recent massive earthquakes and various violent storms have the majority of people divided between two basic beliefs: either our own activities as humans have sped up the effects of global warming and directly influenced the natural disasters we are experiencing or it is all happening in accordance with Bible and other prominent predictions and there is nothing that we can do to stop it.

Environmental activists have been touting their beliefs for decades that our actions are destroying the environment that we live in. The combustion burning of fossil fuels releases harmful agents into the air which are breaking down the protective ozone layer keeping the sun's harmful rays at bay. Additionally we are depleting our earth's natural resources, and now it seems that the earth itself may be fighting back.

On the other hand, many religious individuals all over the world believe that the natural disasters that we are all experiencing are signs of the coming of the Last Days which has been predicted by Old and New Testament prophets and other individuals such as Nostradamus. The Bible has long foretold of the many calamities that would befall people living in the Last Days, including but not limited to: earthquakes, tempests, whirlwinds, volcanic eruptions, disease, plague, famine, floods, and more. There is even mention of changes in the "heavens" above and "fire from heaven" raining down upon the nations.

If you believe that we are directly impacting what is happening to the world around us, you may be more inclined to persist in urging people to change their ways in order to preserve the world for the coming generations and to protect the lives and lifestyles of all living creatures upon the earth today. Drastic changes would need to be made in order to support alternative fuel sources, recycle, and protect the natural resources around us. Fear of what is to come if we do not change now may be a powerful motivator for those taking ever increasingly drastic measures to protect the environment.

Then again, if the natural disasters, diseases, and wars are all part of a grander plan for our universe, then you may be more likely to prepare yourself spiritually and physically for what is to come because it is only predicted to get worse before the End. People may be inclined to become more active in their chosen religion, to strengthen their homes and relationships, and become more self-sufficient in the event of total market collapse. These people will hope to approach the coming events with anticipation rather than fear, since the Bible teaches that the righteous "need not fear."

Regardless of which train of thought you believe, the result is the same: natural disasters are happening everywhere across the globe, and we need to know how to prepare ourselves and how to survive in the event that it happens in your city next...if it hasn't already.

  • Which side of the debate are we on, and how will we prepare ourselves and our families?
Emergency Preparedness is considered a main part of family life today as more and more families are experiencing the need to be prepared to survive an emergency situation.

Could these ideas we pander to be an offshoot of a naturally occurring phenomenon that continue to grow in intensity around the world as we determine their value and self-worth, could we be in The End Days of that philosophy we have been schooled as gospel? Will this century be our own undoing or our salvation? Will we overcome these adversities we face in ever changing weather patterns, will we accept our responsibility as stewards of this planet's ailing and toxic environmental conditions? Can we make amends for our lack of integrity in our personal relationships in lieu of a monetary profit? Can we put the Jennie back in the Trees and remove the debris fields from our Streams and Rivers? Will we reinstate our promised longevity that was granted us when we were given the boot for a previous mistake? Australia has been highlighted as a starting point in our undoing... many times over, why hasn't anyone been listening? Neurology is deeply rooted in the areas from deep Down Unde

I tend to fall into that "we humans have damaged our planet" category. There are too many inconsistencies in the Bible for me to rely on it as a road map to the future. great article. food for thought.
