How to Clean Your Shower

The shower is one of the hardest areas to clean in a house. Because of its large size it can be very difficult to get all of the areas that need to be cleaned. I have spent many a day on my knees bent over the bathtub scrubbing away at the side walls. Boy, this is painful on the back and knees. Today I'd like to give you a few tips on how to make this job a little bit easier. The ideas that I am going to give to you are cost effective and natural too.

There are four items that you are going to need when you go to clean your shower. The items are a bottle of diluted vinegar, a box of baking soda, a toothbrush, and a sponge or scrubber. The first thing that you are going to do is to turn your water on and get your whole shower wet. Spray it down heavily with the vinegar and let it sit for about 20 minutes. In the meantime you can wet a toothbrush and dip it into the baking soda. This mixture is going to help with mildew. You can apply this to any areas that have mildew.

After the 20 minutes are up you can re-apply the vinegar spray and wipe down the walls. The soap scum should come right off. You should not have to scrub very much at all. The baking soda should also have cleansed and bleached the mildew stains as well. Once everything is clean then you can rinse the shower and tub area in hot water to remove any grime. You should have a sparkling clean shower area now.

If you want to get ahead of the ball game you can apply the vinegar spray after every shower. This will keep the soap scum down. It is also safe to clean your bathtub and shower walls while you are taking a shower because the vinegar and baking soda are natural products and they will not harm you. Yes the vinegar smells kind of funny, but that will go away in time. It is better to know that your shower area is clean and these products will do the trick. You don't have to buy any expensive cleaners out on the market. Stick with the old fashioned stuff that is non-toxic. It won't put a dent in your pocketbook either.
