Natural Energy Fixes for Tired Single Parents

Single parenting is a rough proposition. You have to be both Mom and Dad. There is no other parent to spot you when you're tired. I should know. I spent 17 years as a divorced single parent of three. It was no picnic. It was, however, worth every bit of the effort. Here are some of the all natural fixes I used to keep my energy up.

Orange juice works quickly as a pick me up. So much so that it's often used to revive sugar depleted diabetics. Tired single parents seeking relief from the 2:00pm factor will find it helps far more than energy concoctions. Plus there are no harmful side effects. It's chock full of potassium and other electrolytes. Far superior to Gatorade when followed by H20 too.

Your kids take vitamins daily. You make sure they do. It's your job. What would they do without you? When was the last time you took your own vitamins? Taking supplements is a vital natural energy fix no parent should ignore. Keep your mind and body in optimum shape for parenting. Don't flush your money down the drain. Choose liquid or whole food vitamins that dissolve before they leave the body.

Sometimes dehydration makes you tired. Drinking plenty of good old H20 keeps all bodily functions running smoothly. Think how sluggish and slow your car gets when you're due for an oil change. Water is the lubricant for all your body's systems. Don't gunk up the works with sugary or chemical filled beverages. If nature didn't make it, it has no place in your body.

Give kids a set bedtime. Parenting is hard work, especially when you are the go to parent for everything. Get kids to bed on time so you get an hour or so of pure relaxation. The only time single parents have peace is when their children are asleep. Don't stay up too late, though. You need your rest so you can start all over in the morning.

Take a quick shower. Nothing provides a more refreshing wake up for tired single parents, or the rest of us. No babysitter? Bring younger kids in the bathroom with you. Put baby in a safety seat or playpen. Give toddlers a coloring book and crayons. Too modest? Get undressed and re-dressed in the shower. Tired single parents have to be inventive if they expect to survive the next 18 years.
