Natural Flea Cure for Your Dog or Cat

Fleas are nasty pests that will get into the hair of a dog or a cat and make their home. A flea can multiply quickly and make your dog or cat uncomfortable not to mention you. Fleas can be picked up anywhere but they tend to like living around sandy soils. A sand beach can attract fleas fast and those fleas will get on your pet. Commercial flea baths and collars can work good but they can have chemicals in them that are not pleasant. You may even find that you or your dog or cat are allergic to the ingredients in the commercial flea collar or flea bath.

You can try natural remedies to keep the fleas away. Fleas do not like cedar so you can keep cedar in your home. Most pests do not like the smell of cedar and they will stay away from it. Cedar is a good flea deterrent.

You can make a homemade flea collar for your dog or cat. Just take a small piece of fabric and put some tansy and catnip in it. If you are making the flea collar for a cat just use the tansy. Roll up the fabric into a small roll and attach it to the dog or cats collar. You don't need to make the roll big it just needs to be small and attached to the collar. You can use some duct tape to attach it to the collar or you can tie it on with some yarn.

Fleas do not like the smell of citrus fruit. You can buy some citrus oil and rub it on the dog or cats fur to keep the fleas away. Put the citrus oil just on the collar once the fleas have left the cat or dog.

Pennyroyal is also a natural flea deterrent. You can rub some pennyroyal oil on collar of your dog or cat to discourage fleas. If you don't have pennyroyal you can use some cedar oil on your pets collar to keep the fleas away.

Vinegar is also unpleasant to fleas. You can place a dish of vinegar near where you pet dog or cat sleeps to keep the fleas away from your dog or cats bed.

Sprinkle some baking soda on your carpets before you vacuum. Baking soda is a natural deodorizer that fleas don't like and the baking soda will help deodorize your carpet.
