Natural Headache Pain Relief Methods You Can Use at Home

Nancy Clyne
It is extremely rare to find a person who has never suffered from a headache. Headache pain comes in different levels - often depending upon the cause that provokes it. You can get a headache because someone annoyed you; you can get a headache after you cried; you can get a headache from lack of sleep, etc. Sometimes, people inherit headaches from their parents in the form of migraines, which can be very painful.

Ways Of Getting Headache Pain Relief

There can be many ways to get you rid of your headache but the important thing to remember is that it should be not be harmful, since it would be fairly ironic to get rid of the headache and, in turn, develop some other more serious affliction as a side effect. So it maybe advisable to use a natural form of headache pain relief as much as possible. Please, keep in mind that if the headaches persist, are accompanied by dizziness, double vision, or other similar symptoms, you need to consult your doctor immediately.

Here are a few natural headache pain relief methods that are given below. I hope you will find them as useful as I found them:

1. Hot bath - fill you bathtub with very hot water (you could add some great smelling bubble soap and even light some candles) and immerse yourself into it, willing yourself to relax totally and, by doing so, pushing all stressful thoughts away from your mind. You will find that, as the tension is leaving your body, so does your headache. This tip is very helful for those who suffer from tension headaches.

2. Sleep - a very popular and extremely beneficial headache pain relief method is sleeping. The rest you get from a good sleep most often re-vitalizes the body and short-circuits the stress that builds up into a headache. Sleeping is often very beneficial for those who suffer from migraine headaches.

3. Stop smoking and consuming coffee - both cigarettes and coffee contribute as triggers for migraines. It is a good thing to cut down the use of these stimulants, if not completely stop their consumption. Other suspected (not fully proved by medical research studies) triggers are chocolate, cheese, wine and nuts. Try to avoid these, too.

4. Exercise can be a very efficient headache pain relief - since exercise produces endorphins which tends to reduce pain, so this is another excellent method to fight stress and hence a great method to stop a headache. The exercise could be rigorous, or just a plain walk. The point is to concentrate on relaxing and combine it with exercising your body. Exercising is a great way to reduce stress headaches.

5. Water - that may surprise you, but you did read that correctly. There have been numerous research studies, which have shown that a dehydrated body will experience blinding headaches. So in order to stay optimally hydrated, you will need to drink eight glasses of water per day. Get in the habit of drinking water often.
