Natural Healing Solutions: The "Cure" They Don't Tell You About

There's a race on and people are searching for a cure. Think about this statement. There isn't anything out there that would "cure" you of cancer if it didn't also prevent you from getting cancer. Should a healthy person routinely take chemotherapy to prevent cancer? What action would you take (or should you take) daily for prevention or for "cure"?

Though cancer treatment alone is a major industry, what we see on the rise is an interest in natural solutions as a complement or even an alternative to conventional medicine. Furthermore, natural prevention of disease is also gaining interest and use among families for its effectiveness, economic value and safety over prescription medications. Rather than explore the reasons why this is true, I'd like to present the first article in a series providing an overview of some natural solutions for a world at dis-ease. Each subsequent article will provide more in-depth information, tools and solutions for practical use.

What is Natural Healing?

You are in charge of not only your own health, but also the outcome you desire for well being throughout your life. That may sound like a bold statement, but I believe it's true! In addition, we make choices based on the information we have at the time. Your doctor may be a part of your team, offering tools and solutions with which you may not be familiar. Ultimately, the choices you make are your own.

1. Your belief

Of course there is much more to natural healing than trying to prevent or cure a disease. First, belief that healing or well being is possible forms the foundation. Our attitude toward life and enjoyment of life can greatly affect whether we live or not, as well as affecting the quality of life we experience. In addition, a person who is open to the idea of natural healing is more likely to try a natural healing method or product than someone who isn't open.

Re-establish the connection between you and your body. Where your belief can make the difference in your attitude, the actions you take and the tools you use to rebuild your body and make it strong are also dependent on your beliefs.

2. Self-Awareness

Major illnesses rarely manifest themselves suddenly. There are signs and symptoms along the way that alert us so that we can take action, if necessary, to avert a health crisis. In fact, all major dis-ease is preceded by functional imbalances. These imbalances may show up as allergies, indigestion, skin irritations, fatigue or pain, headaches or sleeplessness, brittle nails, hair loss, etc. Signs of aging that many people attribute to "getting old" do not have to be accepted. In fact, signs of aging could be signs of functional imbalances that may be corrected with natural solutions.

Pay attention to your body. Rather than mask the symptoms of dis-ease with modern medications, find out the causes of your imbalances and make corrections naturally.

3. Relieving Stress

Stress is both a good thing and a bad thing. Our ancestors who experienced stress centuries ago were better able to survive the perils of predatory beasts because of natural stress responses in the body. Alerted to dangers, people feel a rush of adrenalin and are able to act quickly. However, the irritations and modern dangers, traffic and harsh interactions in daily living have a similar effect to release adrenalin in the body, putting the body in "hyper-drive" more frequently. What long term effects can stress have on the body? Stress creates imbalances and toxins, wear and tear, emotional strain and more which can have a cumulative effect over time.

Be aware of the stressors in your life. Find ways to reduce or eliminate stress including yoga, meditation, massage, exercise, gratitude and laughter!

4. Removing Toxins

Perhaps the most important issue in health today is how to manage our toxic world inside and outside our bodies. Toxins like mercury, cadmium, lead, arsenic, aluminum, pesticides, plastics and flame retardants are pervasive in our bodies and detectable in measurable amounts in our newborn babies. In fact, the body burden of toxins can be linked to the rising rates of cancer, autism, asthma, obesity, diabetes and heart disease and many more illnesses that plague our society today.
