Natural Herbal Remedies that Can Benefit You

Herbs are easy to grow and there can be a ton of benefits to them. You can use them to cook with, make tea, or even your own herbal remedies. Using your own home-grown herbs is a great, natural way to take care of yourself.

Before you go mixing up your own prescription though, make sure you talk to your doctor about any negative side effects that might occur, especially if you are taking any kind of prescription medication. Know your herbs well, as some can be dangerous if used improperly.

Here are some common herbs, and what they are used for. This should give you a great basis to start off with, and add as you go along if you find you're enjoying your new home remedies!

Coriander: This will aid digestion. Add a few chopped leaves to any meal and you'll find you won't be suffering!

Basil: Place a few leaves in a muslin bag and run under hot water to have an invigorating bath!

Thyme: Soak some thyme in hot water, let cool and it will soothe coughs, colds and some say even hangovers!

Parsley: Loaded with Vitamin C, this will help promote healthy skin. Add a salt-free diet for the best effect. This can also help freshen your breath!

Sage: This helps with PMS and menopause. A small glass of sage tea can help with moodiness!

Lavender: Crush some leaves to release their scent and your headache will fade away. Throw a sprig or two into your clothes draw and freshen it up. You can also add to bath water for a relaxing, aromatherapy bath. Lavender is commonly known as the "smelling herb" because the smell can out-do any other herb and will freshen up even the smelliest places!

Borage: Known as the herb of "courage," this herb can be added to your family's meals and works on the adrenaline gland therefore giving you "courage." It is full of minerals.

You can grow herbs easily, in the garden or on a sunny windowsill. Herbs like to be picked or trimmed back and will flourish that way providing you with years' worth of great herbs.

There are some natural herbs that can be dangerous if mixed the wrong way, or just taken internally when they're not meant to be. If you do decide to go a natural route with herbs, make sure you research your specific herbs properly as to not cause problems!
