Natural and Home-Made Face Scrubs and Masks

Everyone wants to have nice skin. When you meet someone new, the skin on their face is the skin you see first, and it's most likely what you'll remember about that person. Naturally, since first impressions really can be everything, it's important to try your best and keep your skin looking younger, healthier, and more vibrant. Of course, just as important as keeping your skin healthy, you have to think about keeping your wallet healthy, too. There's plenty of simple and natural ways to keep the skin on your face beautiful that can be found right in your own home, and are safe for any type of skin!

Oatmeal is always a great way to keep your skin smooth and soft, and it evens out your facial skin color tones for a naturally radiant glow. To make an easy oatmeal face mask, buy regular unbleached oatmeal (usually in a bag), and mix it with water and egg whites. There are no specific amounts, just mix them until they're a constancy similar to sticky bread dough. Once it's all mixed together, stir in a tiny bit of honey, and rub it on your face in small circles. You don't have to leave this mask on very long, about five minutes will be enough for it to work it's magic. Rinse it off in the sink or shower, and viola! Smoother, softer, healthier facial skin within minutes.

Seaweed is useful for making facial scrubs as well as masks. There's always a simple seaweed mask with kelp powder, water, and crushed banana peels. It takes a while to make it, but it draws out any impurities in your face, and cleanses your pores, preventing and getting rid of blackheads. There's also a seaweed and salt exfoliating scrub that's easy to make, though the ingredients might be tricky to find.

What you'll need is some dried wakame, kelp powder, sea salt (as unaltered as you can find it), and coconut oil. Virgin coconut oil is best, but both are quite hard to find in the U.S.A unless your town has a great international food selection. If you can't find coconut oil, grapeseed oil is an acceptable alternative. The results are still great, but not as astonishing. Crush the dried wakame into powder, or as close to powder as you can get it. You can do it with your fingertips and it's quite easy to do! You should mix the oil and salt first, making the mixture almost like a thin gritty gel before you add any of the powdered seaweeds together. The powders will thicken the mixture and make it more like a soap or a scrub. This is an amazing exfoliator and also scrubs out impurities lurking inside your pores!

There's another facial scrub that doubles as a mask that I've used since I was a teenager. You need an avocado, an orange, extra virgin olive oil, and some sea salt. Crush the sea salt a little, just enough to make the pieces small enough to stick on your skin easily. Skin the avocado and mash it with about a teaspoon of olive oil until it's a paste. Slice the orange and squeeze the as much juice as you can into the mixture, and then mix it with your hands with the crumbled sea salt. When it's all together like a big icky green gooey blob, you can use it as a scrub, or leave it on your skin for a few minutes to help difficult acne or blackheads. You can also use this as a scrub for your entire body.

If you're feeling confident after trying a few home remedies for the ever-noticeable skin on your face, you can make your own based on what skin types you have. Oatmeal removes oil and dirt, and is especially helpful against tough acne that covers the entire face. It also helps to smooth and even out blotchy skin. Seaweed is not only a good cleanser, but also helps to purify and renew damaged or tired skin, and help you look more perky and radiant. It's full of vitamins and minerals, as are other vegetables used in facial cleaners.

You could also try orange peels on your nose, or avocado if you have dry skin. It's up to you, be creative, and keep your skin beautiful and natural without straining your wallet!
