Many Things Can Be Found in Your Kitchen

When using pesticides on your yard and garden you need to consider who will be walking and playing on your yard and the health hazard these chemicals will cause for them. If you have children you need to read the labels carefully to ensure the safety of your children. Pets are another thing that you must consider when using these harsh chemicals. There are some natural ingredients that you can use that are safe for the environment and your children and pets.

Fire Ants: Pour boiling water on their mounds. Or pour on a mixture of soap and water. This will kill them off. What you want to kill is the queen.

Ants - They don't like pepper. Sprinkle cayenne pepper and they won't cross it. Soapy water can be sprayed on them. Ants don't like Mint flavor Tea. So you can spay this around wher you have seen them.

Cockroaches - The best way to get rid of cockroaches is Boric acid. But this is toxic. Only use Boric Acid in places where kids and pets can't get to it. Catnip can be used. You make catnip like tea, simmering the catnip then spraying around where you have seen the cockroaches. If you have cats in the house, you may not want to do this. It will drive the cats crazy. Again you can use plain soapy water and spray on the bugs when you see them, this will kill them.

Fleas. Fleas are a major problem in the summer. If you give your pets baths regularly using soap you will help combat the problem, Use products like frontline that is safe for pets and children. One place I read said to use citrus water. Make it by boiling citrus fruit and letting it cool then spray it on the animal to kill the fleas. If you have fleas in your carpet, before vacuuming the carpet put flea powder in the vacuum bag (not on the carpet) to kill the fleas once you vacuum them this way the powder is not on the carpet where your kids play.

Insect control does not have to be harmful to your family and pets you can get rid of these critters naturally. Boiling water, soap and other things can be used and none of this is harmful to your family. Keeping a spray bottle with soapy water will help you get rid of many of these insects while it may not work on all insects, it will work on allot of them.
