There are two ways to get relief from dry skin from your kitchen shelf. You can eat the food or apply some of the foods directly on your skin.
Some of these foods which relieve your dry skin include honey, olive oil , yogurt and oatmeal.
Honey a natural dry skin remedy has bee used since ancient times. Cleopatra used honey together with milk combined in a bath to keep her skin young and fresh. Honey acts to both heal and moisturize the skin. With its antibacterial properties honey can heal the tiny breaks in the skin letting dry skin repair itself. Honey is a natural moisture holder or humectant.
Yogurt is another food which can be an ally of dry skin. Yogurt can be used as a skin cleanser leaving the skin soft and moisturized. Oatmeal can ease dry skin. You can mix oatmeal with a little bit of water to have a natural facial exfoliating mix. Or pour some oatmeal in your bath to reduce itchy dry skin.
Another great kitchen resource is olive oil. Cold pressed extra virgin olive oil can smooth and soften skin. Whether you include olive oil in your diet or apply it to your skin. Olive oil softens and soothes dry skin. Add almonds to your diet every day for healthy oils which help dry skin feel smooth and supple. Other sources of 'good' oils for you skin are fish such as salmon.
You can use an herb tea not only to drink but also to hydrate your skin. You can also use an herb tea as part of a steaming facial. The steam will open your pores allowing your moisturizing part of your facial to do its work. Some herbs to try include chamomile, peppermint and calendula.
