Natural remedies for treating Anxiety
Drinking tea or kava
For years, tea has been used to treat and cure day to day ailments, including anxious behavior and stress. A variety of choices containing components that aid in the reduction of tension and calm the mind, body, and soul include chamomile, cloves, lavender, orange blossoms, and thyme. Kava is used as a popular herbal remedy for anxiety. It can be used in any form: natural kava powder, kava pills, kava tinctures, kava extracts, etc. It is widely used for the relief of anxiety and stress. When using kava do not get frightened as it imparts a tingling feeling to the mouth and tongue which is completely normal.
Proper diet and Relaxation
Proper diet and relaxation is very important in order to get over anxiety. Try and relax whenever you can and make sure that you eat regularly to avoid fluctuations in blood sugar level and have at least 7 to 8 hours of sleep a night! Sleep deprivation can cause symptoms of anxiety. There are a number of different relaxation techniques to choose from like slow breathing, progressive muscle relaxation, meditation listening to music etc. Try to include oats, bananas, avocado pears, whole-wheat pasta, bread and brown rice in your diet to cope with anxiety. Increase the intake of Vitamin C and citrus fruits as they help a great deal to decrease anxiety.
Exercise
When you exercise it helps to increase the blood flow to the brain, releases hormones, stimulates the nervous system, and increases levels of morphine such as beta-endorphin which has a positive effect on our moods. Exercise aids to relieve stress, tension, and anxiety to a great extent. It makes you more relaxed and calm and thus helps to deal with the issues and conflicts that are causing the anxiety. Regular exercise is one of the most beneficial things one can do and has been shown to have a significant effect on lowering anxiety symptoms and improving well being. At least 45 minutes 3 - 5 times a week will make all the difference!
Avoid alcohol and caffeine
Avoid stimulants like coffee, tea (except herbal teas), sugary foods, chocolate or carbonated drinks. People, who suffer from anxiety, should never take alcohol and most recreational drugs. These substances can actually worsen the anxiety symptoms.
Ginger
Lately it is found that ginger can be used to fight anxiety. So you can drink ginger tea when suffering from anxiety or eat ginger bread or ginger cookies to stay in a good mood.
Socialize
Talk to people about how you feel! Try and socialize, start a hobby, take up a sport or develop new interests! Perhaps think about offering your services as a volunteer to help others. Anything which takes your mind off yourself and keeps you interested will help a great deal!
Read a Book
There is wealth of self-help books available which can be used to overcome anxiety. Reading helps in a great deal and is one of the cheapest way too. Reading about your problems and how to overcome them, helps a lot in dealing with anxiety. Read as much as you can about anxiety and how to help yourself.
Dance and Yoga
Dance and movement therapy also helps a lot to overcome anxiety so dance your way to fitness and to fight against anxiety. Yoga is considered as one of the time tested remedy for anxiety so practice yoga at home or go for yoga classes. It is one of the best ways to stay fit and fine.
