Natural Remedies for Cold and H1N1 Flu

Fight the H1N1 Swine Flu with Natural Remedies

Douglas Christian Larsen
As the H1N1 Swine Flu again begins to proliferate, keep in mind this simple angle of attack: 1. Nasal Flush, 2. Ginger and Oregano, 3. Vaporizer and Onions, 4. Sambucus, and 5. Rest.

It is important to remain calm. Do not panic. Be alert, vigilant, smart and think for yourself.

Following are simple, natural remedies. These are inexpensive tools to use in the fight against the cold and flu, and can be found at most markets near you, and at health-food stores:

  • NeilMed Nasal Irrigation.Flush out the nasal cavity with warm salty water, attacking the two most prominent flu invasion points, the nose and throat. This device can be obtained at either Walgreens or Walmart, for about $10-$12. The very best tool for fighting nasal infections, influenza and especially the common cold.
  • Vaporizer. Hot-steam vaporizer, use for the duration of the illness. Place freshly chopped onion bits in the steamer dish. Influenza does not flourish in humidity, and using onions jointly with the vaporizer also spreads sulfur through the air.
  • Respiratory Herbs: These potent herbs can be used in the powdered spice form, or in fresh form, including ginger, oregano, elderberry, onion and garlic. Also available in capsule form. A powerful form of oregano is the oil Oreganol.
  • Ginger and Oregano. Incredibly powerful virus and bacteria fighters, these two herbs work better together than apart. More info on Ginger. More info on Oregano.
  • Sambucus. Elderberry, or Sambucus, tested effective against the h1n1 virus. Available as a cough syrup and as lozenges.
  • Onions. Place freshly-cut onions in every populated room of the house, especially in the "sick room," not for the folkloric benefit of "attracting and trapping the virus," but in the very real chemical release of sulfur into the air. Use with vaporizer.
  • Tofu Noodle Soup.Comforting, healthy, replete with onions, garlic, ginger and oregano. Similar to "chicken noodle soup," but better in every way (no dead bird is involved), especially taste.
  • Sauerkraut. Tested positively against Bird Flu.
  • Apple Cider Vinegar. Use the pure, organic form, such as Bragg's, with the "mother."
  • Lemon Juice. Either from freshly-squeezed lemon, or as pure, bottled lemon juice. Add lemon juice to a glass of drinking water, and to green tea. Great in combination with honey.
  • Honey. One of the healthiest natural foods used in healing for thousands of years, mentioned as early as the writings of Homer.
  • Green Tea. Hydrate with green tea. Aids in establishing a negative environment for the flu. Obtain green tea with lemongrass.
  • Grapefruit Seed Extract (GSE). Fights bacteria and viruses. Also, purchase a tube of Vita-Myr Toothpaste, which contains GSE and Zinc to disinfect the mouth.
  • Agrisept-L. Similar to GSE, but enhanced with extracts from the seeds of lemon, lime, tangerine and orange.
  • Vitamin D. In conjunction with Calcium, a primary immune system vitamin.
  • Probiotics. The healthy flora and fauna in the digestive tract, where much of the immune system resides.

Remember, there are no magic bullets in the war against influenza viruses. There is no magic potion. And beware, scammers pushing false remedies and miracle cures are many, and the worst example of this tragic fact is the hype surrounding the "h1n1 vaccine." Do not buy into the scams, even those promoted by the government.
