Natural Remedies for Eczema

Eczema. It is red, inflamed skin and causes great discomfort and irritation. It is characterized by flaking, scaling, and blistering. It is often due to some form of allergy, but it can also be inherited. There are many remedies that are natural that can bring a great deal of relief to sufferers of eczema.

PEPPERMINT

Use a real peppermint lotion, or make your own by mixing a teaspoon of the herb with a cup of warm water, straining it and washing gently over the painful area a couple times a day.

It has been around for a long time, even being found in Egyptian pyramids about 1000 BC.

GOTU KOLA

Using Gotu Kola powder on the skin a couple times a day can prove to be very useful.

It grows wild throughout much of India, and can also be found in the southern US in marshy areas, It is a perennial with fan-shaped leaves.

WITCH HAZEL

Using a lotion several times a day of Witch Hazel can be very effective.

Native Americans regularly used Witch Hazel as poultices and also internally. The plant is a tree, about 15 feet high, growing in the woodlands.

GERMAN CHAMOMILE

Using tea and washing the area or bathing in the herb water can soothe an eczema sufferer a great deal.

It can be grown in your own yard, for it is an annual that grows only to about 2 feet tall with small, cute white flowers with yellow centers. It is also growing wild in many areas.

OATS

Taking an oat bath can help a great deal. You can simply fill a muslin bag with oats and place it under the running water, then bathe in the soothing water for ten minutes or so.

Yes, it's not just a nutritious cereal! Oats benefit the human body in other ways, too, externally and internally!
