Weed killers may be very useful when it comes to taking proper care of your lawn or garden, but they can be something you need to watch out for, especially if you have pets or children. You definitely want to make sure that the weed killer you're using is safe, because most weed killers contain ingredients and chemicals that are found to be harmful to animals and even humans. Pet and child friendly weed killers are often composed of natural ingredients, vinegar commonly being one of them.

Weed killers may be very useful when it comes to taking proper care of your lawn or garden, but they can be something you need to watch out for, especially if you have pets or children. Some are also known to be harmful to the environment. You definitely want to make sure that the weed killer you're using is safe, because most weed killers contain ingredients and chemicals that are found to be harmful to animals and even humans. Pet and child friendly weed killers are often composed of natural ingredients, vinegar commonly being one of them.
The question is, if you switch to using a different weed killer, is it still going to be as effective as the ones that DO contain the harmful ingredients?: When using natural ingredients, instead of those that may harm your pets or children, it is actually found to be just as effective, or sometimes even more effective than your average weed-killer.

Pet-friendly weed-killers may be easily found in your local pet store, hardware store, or department store. But the easiest, cheapest, and safest method would be to try these natural remedies. It won't hurt to try them only once, You might find one that actually works out well for you, saving you both money and time. Both your pets and wildlife environment will thank-you.

1. Vinegar. Most of the natural weed-killers are made of a vinegar base, as said earlier in this article. It's very effective, and you can even use plain vinegar, which works in one of two ways. You can either pour it, or use a spray bottle to spray it over the invasive plants as moss will cause them to die. BUT do not whatsoever pour or spray it on or near plants that you wish to keep. It begins to work in less than 15 to 30 minutes, by drying up weeds, and causing them to shrivel, and die. Try it out and see for yourself.

2. Rock salt. Sprinkling rock salt onto soil is probably one of the most effective ways to keep the weeds away. It makes the soil un-fertile for any plants to live of off, so please make sure that you're not looking to plant in that area in the future. This is both effective and useful, especially for those weeds that spring up out of driveway and sidewalk cracks.

3. Boiling Salt Water. Apply boiling water to plants once a day for three days in a row will cause weeds to shrivel up and quickly die. Add ΒΌ of a cup of salt to a boiling pot of water. The most effective way of using this tip, is to go ahead and pull the dead weed out while the soil's still wet. This way, you're removing most of the weed and it's root from the ground.

4. Rubbing alcohol. I suggest mixing one teaspoon of rubbing alcohol with one liter of water to kill weeds. It works very effectively, considering that rubbing alcohol is meant to dry out things. I would suggest spraying the solution on your plants, or even pouring it. Just as stated before with the other remedies, be sure not to spray on or near plants that you're actually wanting to keep.
