Unfortunately, I am still not able to provide you with a definitive answer as to how well CholestOff alone works to reduce high cholesterol levels, as you will read below. But I did want to take the time to fill you in on my continuing struggle to lower my high cholesterol, and to let you know what seems to be working for me, and what might work for you.
Please keep in mind that high cholesterol is a serious condition, and you should follow your doctor's advice when it comes to treating yours. But if your doctor is open to letting you try some natural remedies before insisting that you go on prescription medications, you might be interested in reading the story of my success with these natural remedies.
As it turned out, I never did receive my results from those 2 months of CholestOff, although I believe that it did, in fact, reduce my high cholesterol. Because of other health issues at the time, my doctor was more focused on those lab results and kept forgetting to have my high cholesterol re-checked. So, it was a year later before the issue came up again.
When my doctor first suggested that I try CholestOff in 2007, my cholesterol level was 259. In 2008, when my doctor once again brought up the subject, it was at 244. I had not continued to take CholestOff in 2007, but I had not done anything else that I was aware of to lower my high cholesterol either, so it appears that the CholestOff must have had some effect in lowering my high cholesterol during the time that I took it. But since the optimum cholesterol level is 200 or lower, mine was still too high.
In 2008, when my doctor suggested that I go on a prescription drug like Lipitor for my high cholesterol, I asked her if I could first try CholestOff again. She agreed, but also suggested that I try it in combination with some other natural remedies and not rely solely on that one natural remedy. She also suggested things like eating oatmeal for breakfast, taking fish oil, or increasing my fruit and whole grains intake.
For 6 weeks, I took CholestOff, along with eating Whole Grain Cheerios every morning for breakfast, and taking Bayer's new Heart Advantage aspirin. I also tried to work in at least one piece of fruit each day. At the end of the 6 weeks, my cholesterol level was 213! My cholesterol had been reduced 8-1/2% in those 6 weeks with the changes I made in my eating habits.
This time, the results were enough that my doctor decided I did not need to go on prescription medications. The results were also positive enough in my mind that I decided that it was important to try to continue doing at least one or two of the above items each day to see if that regimen will continue to keep my high cholesterol in check. So, although I do not continue to take Cholestoff on a daily basis, just as I don't always take my Heart Advantage aspirin, or eat Cheerios or fruit or whole grains every day, I do try to do one or two of those items each day. It's about 6 months until my next check-up. I'll let you know how it's working!
