Even while using sunscreen, there may come a time when you get too much sun and end up with a sunburn. You can help ease sunburn pain right at home with some items you may have on hand and save a trip to the store with these natural remedies for sunburn.

Vinegar helps to remove the pain, itch and heat from the skin. Soak a washcloth in vinegar and press gently over the sunburned skin to get almost instant relief. Vinegar is supposed to help prevent blistering and peeling as well.

Yogurt is known to work for women's yeast infections and can work well for a sunburn as well. Gently rub the yogurt over the affected area and let dry. Then rinse off with slightly warm water. Yogurt is very cooling to the burn. Plain yogurt is preferable, but in a bind, any flavor can be used. If you have the fruit-on-the-bottom type, just use the yogurt on top for your sunburn affected skin.

Just as cucumber is cooling to the eye area, it is also cooling on a sunburn. Take thin slices of refrigerated cucumber and apply to the sunburned area. You can replace the cucumber slices after they get warm if necessary. Cucumber not only has soothing benefits, but it helps moisturize the affected area as well.

Cornstarch can actually feel soothing to a sunburn. Gently spread on in powder form or make a paste. Let dry then rinse off with slightly warm water. Cornstarch soothes the burning feeling associated with sunburn.

Like cornstarch, baking soda can help. Baking soda is good for itching associated with sunburn. It can be applied as a powder or a paste and rinsed after drying. Baking soda can also be used in a bath soak as well.

Next time you get a sunburn, save a trip to the store by using one of these natural remedies for sunburn that may be found right in your home pantry.
