Natural Remedies for Symptoms of Sinusitis

Supplementing Traditional Medicine

For individuals who suffer from sinusitis and other sinus complications, the medical issues can be overwhelming. From sinus pain to sinus pressure, the onset of a sinus infection, or development of polyps, leaves many sufferers coping with secondary health complications including fatigue and headache pain.

As a supplement to traditional medicine, many healthcare professionals are, today, recommending a variety of alternative medicine techniques in an effort to resolve the chronic and recurring sinus infections in some patients. While certainly not a replacement for traditional medicine, individuals who suffer from sinusitis are now moving to supplement, and compliment, their care with alternative medicine.

As with most health complications, there is an herbal therapy that can be found to treat virtually any condition, including sinusitis. Because the FDA is not involved in the approval of herbal therapy, in most cases, many Americans have, in the past, been overly cautious when using herbal therapy. However, in the treatment of sinusitis, herbal therapy has been shown to be effective as a complimentary form of care. Using herbal remedies such as Echinacea, Goldenseal and even Bromelain have provided relief ranging from decreased inflammation, reduce in discharge and congestion and even boosts in the immune system response.

In addition to herbal therapy, and along the same lines of natural healing, the added support of zinc and Vitamin C has shown to be effective in resolving sinusitis naturally. In fact, some product manufacturers, as with Zicam, are now producing sinusitis remedies, using zinc, in a nasal spray or, in this case, a nasal gel.

Acupuncture has long been a Chinese practice of healing. With specific acupuncture therapy along the thumb and index finger, many sinusitis sufferers report an improvement in headache pain, sinus pressure and alleviate drainage and congestion.

And, of course, we can not have any natural healing solution guide without mentioning the important of stress reducing techniques. For many chronically ill patients, the issue of stress is often a leading culprit in disease as it reduces the immune system response. For this reason, when suffering from sinus infections, or in between your chronic sinusitis episodes, be sure to focus on getting adequate amounts of exercise so as to naturally boost the immune system.

As with any chronic infection, the key to your optimal health lies in the early detection, diagnosis and intervention by a healthcare professional. When confirmed with sinusitis, consider using these natural alternative healing techniques to compliment your traditional medicine therapy.
