Natural Skin Care

Natural skin care is the current buzz word for the cosmetic market today. Many more people are health conscious than there were even ten years ago. We are well aware of the effect our lifestyles are having on our health and are taking the steps necessary to ensure a long, active and healthy life. No longer do we focus on just one aspect of our lives to maintain health and simply take a pill to correct the one problem we might have, be it being over weight, having a pore skin tone, or a stressful life. Instead a holistic approach is understood to be most beneficial. For example, we understand now that exercising actually assists with maintaining healthy skin because the sweat will unblock pores, better distribute the skin's natural oil and ensure toned muscles to better support and avoid wrinkly skin.
Natural skin care should be viewed from the whole body's healthy profile. The skin, after all does cover the entire body and therefore it makes sense to follow a plan that acknowledges the entire body and not just focus on the face and hands. First and foremost to skin care is two things, exercise and stress avoidance or reduction. Luckily the mere act of exercising is an effective stress release. Many chronic skin problems are exacerbated by high levels of stress. Eczema, psoriasis and acne each usually experience a strong outbreak reaction to high levels of stress. As any student can say who has gone through a finals exam period, it can take many weeks of relaxation and exercise to remove the harmful effects that stress has on the body and skin.

The second step in natural skin care is to use naturally based or organic products. For example, any skin care regime includes cleansing, moisturizing, and a nutrient rich mask. There are several natural products to accomplish each. Instead of scrubbing your skin with harsh man made soap, try a simple dry brush scrub. This type of cleansing has been around since the days of the Romans, it helps to remove dry skin and stimulates the growth of new healthy skin, and it also improves blood circulation and removes toxins from the body. Moisturizing should always be done with a water based product, never an oil based product. The oils in a moisturizer will interfere with the body's own natural oil, sebum. Finally, when considering a facial mask, look no further than your refrigerator and try a simple egg yolk mask. The yolk contains all the nutrients and vitamins needed for a healthy skin tone and is much cheaper than all the cosmetics on the shelf. With use of these simple tips, a person can maintain a younger healthy skin and avoid the use of creams or other off the shelf products.
