Natural Skin Care Products from Isabella

If you regularly read my articles, you'll know I generally prefer pure, natural skin care and beauty products to those with sulfates, fragrances, phthalates, and other potentially damaging ingredients. I found a great source for such products in the Isabella catalog (or their website, www.isabellacatalog.com ). They also have gifts, books, and other products, all for health and wellness for your body, mind, and spirit, and in general aimed at women.

One of the products I bought is the Rooting Bear Rub. This is a serious moisturizer for dry, cracked, chapped skin. It's perfect for heels, elbows, and dry hands, and I've used it on my face on a painful drying rash that wouldn't clear up. This 100% natural product is made by Native Touch, LLC, a Native American owned and operated company. It contains unrefined shea butter fruit, rosemary essential oil, tea tree essential oil, and lavender essential oil. That's it. Nothing else. No color, no added fragrance, no secret complex. The name? That's simple. The top of the jar of Rooting Bear rub states "By watching bear, Native people learned about the special gifts that Creator put in plants for us to use. Bear knows what plants to forage for and what roots to dig to treat whatever ails him." I'd say Bear did a great job in putting this product together; it's soothing my fact, softening up that hard thick skin on my heels, and my elbows aren't quite baby-soft, but they're getting there!

Another product is the Lotus Moon Organic Honey Purifying Masque. I don't use a lot of masques, but they're great for pulling impurities from your skin (think clay masques) and moisturizing your skin. Organic, non-homogenized honey is filled with antibiotic properties and compounds that help your immune system, so putting it into a masque is a great idea. According to the tube, this masque "hydrates and boosts skin's healing abilities." In addition to just plain dry skin, I have lupus, so I sometimes get the characteristic "butterfly" rash. This product will, I hope, help with that over time, but I've been using it weekly for about a month, and my skin is already softer and moister. In addition to the honey, the Organic Purifying Masque contains rooibos tea extract, aloe juice, jojoba oil, vitamin E, oat extract, rosemary, and neem oil (don't ask on that last one; it's a plant, that's all I know!). This product cleanses pores while it's moisturizing, and if your pet (or child) happened to lick a little off your face while you were wearing it, you'd both be just fine. What sold me on buying it was the description of Derek's baby-soft skin - but you'll have to visit the website or check the catalog for that!

The third product I'm using from Isabella is a Clove Acne Control serum for cystic (under the skin) acne - which may also help that lupus rash. Made by Enessa, it contains organic essental clove oil, a powerful antibacterial and anti-inflammatory substance, along with organic golden jojoba and some other organic essential oils, all of which you can read here . Use a small amount three times a day. If you shave your bikini line, it can also soothe those itchy red bumps you may get. If that's not enough to sell you on it, the catalog says that celebrity clients like Jennifer Aniston use this product regularly too! Acne, bumps, and rashes aren't pretty, and they can be itchy and painful. This product helps, and I love the scent of clove.
