Unrefined shea butter is yellow in texture and is sold in solid form in various size tubs or containers. Rubbing the shea butter briefly helps to melt the butter for application. Shea butter can be purchased inexpensively online or in local beauty supply stores. Here are some tips on the how to use shea butter as a natural treatment for dry skin.

The skin is the largest organ in the body. It absorbs the beauty products and creams that are used. Many products do not work to fully moisturize the skin. Shea butter is a natural product made from the seed of the shea tree. It is high in vitamin A and helps to heal the skin from free radicals, wind damage, sun damage, and smooths wrinkles.

Shea Butter Hand Cream

Dry hands can be embarrassing. Both women and men spend a great deal of money purchasing lotions and thick creams formulated for dry skin. Many formulations need to be applied several times throughout the day and are often carried in a purse or day time bag. Shea butter can be used under a favorite lotion or hand cream. Shea butter can also be used alone to renew the appearance of the hand. Neglected or un moisturized hands often reveal a persons true age.

Pedicure Tips

Rough, dry, cracked heels are not attractive. Some times the cracks in heel of the foot become painful to walk on or causes irritation when shoes are worn. A pedicure often helps to loosen the dead skin, but the next day the skin may return to its previous dry appearance.

Use raw shea butter to smooth on the feet each night before going to bed. Wear socks overnight to allow it to absorb further into the skin. Keeping the skin moisturized with shea butter during the day and at night helps to extend the pedicure.

Shea Body Butter

Shea body butters are made by various companies. Look for formulations that list shea butter as one of the first few ingredients. Raw shea butter can also be used for the entire surface of the body. Shea butter can help to diminish the appearance of stretch marks over time.

Natural unrefined shea butter can be used to create a personal moisturizer, or used alone. Small containers can be purchased at art and craft stores to place small of amounts of shea butter. This helps to always have an effective natural moisturizer available for dry hands, cracked feet, or to use as a body butter.
