Psoriasis is a reoccurring auto-immune skin disease which very is common. It manifests itself in several different forms and varies from case to case on its level of severity. Symptoms of the disease include flaky, red, patches on the skin and can occur just about anywhere on the body. Currently there is not a known cure for stopping outbreaks from occurring, however there are some very effective natural treatments that will relieve the symptoms and discomfort very quickly after an outbreak has begun.

Start by trying the following dietary supplements. Fish oil, milk thistle, vitamin D, flax seed oil and primrose oil are each known to be very effective in relieving the symptoms of Psoriasis. Fish oil is especially effective when taken both by mouth and locally concurrently. Apply some liquid fish oil to the affected areas liberally, three times per day, while also taking it by mouth. The oral version can be either liquid or capsule form. Additionally, taking flax seed oil with the fish oil is very helpful and tends to speed the rate of the outbreak areas clearing up.

Moisturize your environment. By using a vaporizer or a humidifier to keep some moisture in the air, especially during the winter and dry seasons or all of the time in dryer climates, helps to actually avoid the onset of a Psoriasis outbreak. Using chemical free skin moisturizers containing only natural organic ingredients are additionally helpful.

Avoid using soaps and laundry detergents that have dyes and perfumes in their ingredients. These substances can trigger outbreaks and irritate the condition as well. Use organic non-chemical products as an alternative.

Be aware of the foods that you put into your body. Your dietary choices play a major role in how often and severe your outbreaks may be. Avoiding items such as foods high in fats, red meats, starchy foods, high-fat proteins, dairy products, sugar and processed foods. These can trigger outbreaks as well as increase the severity of them. On the other hand, choosing foods that are high in antioxidants, fish, essential fatty acids, fresh fruits and vegetables are very helpful in not only preventing a breakout, but decreasing the severity of it as well.

Soaking in a warm bath with Epsom salt and mineral oil can help to relieve the symptoms of an outbreak very quickly. Repeat this one to two times daily until the symptoms have gone. This will also alleviate the itching and discomfort during the outbreak.

Drinking about 64 ounces of water per day will help in avoiding an outbreak. The water flushes out your body of toxins, therefore flushing out what may be causing the skin condition from starting in the first place. Drinking ample water each day is also helpful in keeping your skin from drying out and possibly keeping the condition at bay.
