Do you wish for your home to smell better? Do you wish to use fragrance in your home, yet you hate to use chemicals or you are allergic to them? Do you realize there are many ways to fragrant your homes naturally, without harsh chemicals that may not affect your allergies? Here are a few suggestions.

Essential Oils

Do you love the smell of essential oils? Essential oils come in a variety of different fragrances from lavender to sandalwood. Would you enjoy smelling these pure oils instead of chemical based ones? There are a number of different ways you can enjoy them:

  • Soak the oil in some cotton balls. Place these cotton balls throughout your home.
  • Dilute the oil with a mixture of water. Pour the liquid in a spray bottle and spray throughout your home. One mixture you may enjoy is lemon and water or lemon and cedar.
  • Place a little bit of the oil in a pan of water. Place the pan on the stove and allow the water to come a boil. You can also do this with a variety of spices including cinnamon.

Fresh Fruit

Do you realize that you can deodorize and fragrant your home by using fresh fruit. You simply can cut the fruit and place in key areas of your home, such as: your kitchen, your sink, and your bathrooms. You can even pour the juice of the fruit in your sink. Some popular fruits to try are:

  • Lemon
  • Lime
  • Apple

Making Your Own Potpourri

If you love potpourri for its look and smell, you can easily make your own. All you need is to do is collect some dried flowerers such as mint blossoms, roses or hydrangeas. Give them plenty of time to dry out completely. Remember hanging upside down where allow flowers to dry faster. Next add the fragrance to the flowers. You can do this by adding in herbs or essential oils. Once you found the scent you like, you have a potpourri you like. This may take some trial and error since every flower and each oil has its own unique scent and will create a different scent once mixed together. After you found a scent you like, place throughout your home in pretty containers.

Yes, there are ways in which you can create your own fragrances without the chemicals, without the toxins and without the allergic reactions.

Great ideas! Fresh lemons and oranges always do the trick. I also simmer cinnamon on the stove to imitate the smell of something good baking away.
