Natural Ways to Help Your Seasonal Allergies

Spring and Fall Are the Worst Times of the Year

Walt Crocker
I have several allergies. I'm allergic to all the seasonal stuff like mold and pollen as well as some foods. I'm also allergic to MSG. If I consume Chinese food with that stuff in it, I start to itch all over my body.

Right now the seasonal stuff is kicking in just like it does every spring and fall. That means I get up in the morning and cough and sneeze until I almost go into a spasm. The rest of the day I have a runny nose and itchy, watery eyes. But now there may be some help without all of the drugs.

According to the Healthy Planet Magazine:

"Spring is in the air and is exciting for most of us. To others, spring is a season of suffering- sneezing, coughing, asthma, runny eyes, itchy rashes, fatigue and that awful "fog in the head."

Here are a few tips that may help you cope with your allergies without a whole bunch of doctor visits: Allergies are caused by an overactive immune system. The symptoms are similar to a cold, it's symptoms are also caused by your immune system going overboard fighting the virus that has infected your respiratory system.

A byproduct of allergic reactions is inflammation. One way to cut down on inflammation is to eat a healthy diet. Avoid eating a lot of animal products and dairy. The only dairy that you want to eat on a regular basis is yogurt because of the probiotics it contains. That can help balance out your gut flora.

Eat a good diet with a minimum of processed foods. If you can't even pronounce what's in it, how do you know that your not allergic to it? Our bodies react to and reject foreign substances and guess how it does this? It activates the immune system.

You may also want to take some vitamin C. It can help reduce the inflammation response. Eat a lot of different colors of vegetables. Quercetin is a pigment that is found in the skin of yellow vegetables. It can help prevent the release of histamines.

And also make sure that you have enough of the current miracle vitamin D. It has been shown that kids who are deficient in vitamin D have more problems with allergies, and most children as well as adults are deficient in this vitamin.

Natural eye drops containing eyebright are also helpful for watery, itchy eyes. I just recently started using a nasal rinsing device. These are excellent for rinsing out the sinuses and getting pollens out of your nose. They are available online or at almost all pharmacies.

If your allergy symptoms continue even after you've tried all of these remedies, you may want to go to a natural health practitioner and ask about a technique called NAET (Nambudripad Allergy Elimination Technique). More information about this is available online.

So good luck with all of your seasonal allergies. With these natural tips, maybe you can stay Claritin clear without the Claritin this year.
