Natural Ways to Nausea Relief

Nausea - How to Relieve it Naturally

M. Vaz
We have all fought waves of nausea, whether from the 24-hour flu bug or a night of partying. Some of us may suffer from nausea as the result of chemotherapy or other medical treatments. No matter what the cause, what can we do to naturally relieve a horrible feeling of nausea?

The first thing to remember is that nausea is a symptom. This symptom could be caused by too much partying, the flu, and morning sickness from being pregnant or even the medical treatment that you are receiving. No one likes the feel that nausea brings and with this article, I will try to give you some tips on how to relieve it.

The first thing to remember is that you need to stay well hydrated. Take little sips of clear liquids, such as ice water. Keep some saltine crackers on your bedside table. Nibble on the crackers before you get out of bed. If you can, try to take small bites of a banana. This contains vitamin B and will help to ease the nausea, as long as you are able to tolerate eating small bites.

Once you are able to get out of bed, remember to keep a glass of water with you so that you can continue to take sips should you continue to feel nausea.

Do not try to eat anything that is fried or greasy, this will only add to the nausea that you feel and more than likely promote vomiting. If you feel that you can eat, eat very slowly and stick to eating bland foods, such as broth or brown rice.

Don't try to eat hot and cold food together. If you are able to eat, stick to one temperature of food. This will help to settle your stomach. When drinking clear fluids, make sure that you drink very slowing. Do not take large gulps, this will irritate your stomach and may cause you to vomit.

If you have ever felt the symptoms of nausea before, you know that you should not try to brush your teeth, no matter how bad your teeth may feel. I can guarantee that the toothpaste will bring on an overwhelming nauseated feeling or a case of vomiting. That is the last thing that you want right now.

Once you are starting to feel better and the nausea starts to subside, do not try to eat an entire meal. Continue to eat bland food and slowly introduce your normal diet food items as you begin to feel better.

Do not try to do anything active. You should rest and wait until the nausea subsides. You do not have to clean the house or mow the yard today; it will still be there tomorrow. Today, just take care of yourself.
