Natural Ways to Relieve Stress

Lacey Wills
We are a world full of stressed people. What happens to our bodies when we are constantly on the go; too busy to take a little time. Are we just burning ourselves out? Can we change things without constantly popping a pill?

The constantly hectic pace of the modern lifestyle doesn't do a whole lot for us health wise. The ever-present stress we feel can lead to fatigue, irritation, complete exhaustion and can even make us more prone to getting sick. What can we do?

We could just get a prescription to mask the symptoms and help us cope, but that is a short term 'fix'. Many prescriptions also come with nasty side effects sometimes.

Natural home remedies are a much safer way to get some relief from our stress. These home remedies could be a better plan for long-term natural stress relief.

These are some of my favorite natural ways to relieve stress:

Aromatherapy: I have found chamomile, peppermint, tangerine, rosemary, sandalwood, lavender, frankincense, and marjoram to be very effective stress relievers.

Cantaloupe, potatoes, raw cabbage, strawberries, and citrus fruits can be helpful tools in your arsenal to combat stress. They are chock full of antioxidants which helps boost your immune system in addition to naturally relieving stress.

A full body massage gets top rankings from me as an avenue for natural stress relief. Stress causes headaches and body pains. A good massage will make your muscles relax and will improve the blood flow throughout your body. This should give you a great deal of relief from those aches and pains! Be sure to drink lots of water after your massage to help flush toxins out of your system.

A nice relaxing warm bath can do wonders for stress relief. I like mine with soft music, candles, and some lavender scent. Customize your experience with your favorites and take a little 'down time'. It will do you a world of good!

Magnesium is another natural stress reliever. It can be found in green vegetables, such as spinach, in seeds and almonds. Magnesium also helps with muscle spasms.

Another helpful thing to know is what your particular stress triggers are. Once I figured out the things that are always going to stress me out and tried to find new ways of coping with them, I feel a lot less rushed and stressed. I hope these natural ways to relieve stress help you.
