Natural Ways to Treat Sunburn

Although summer is over you can always prepare yourself for next summer by learning how to treat sunburn with natural treatments instead of with over the counter medications. Natural remedies are far better for your body in the long run than medications. First, and foremost, the best natural treatment is aloe. Aloe plants or gel works wonders helping treat symptoms and getting your skin back to its normal balance. Aloe is the best medicine for minor burns like sunburn. You can use as much of the gel as you like, as often as you like to help treat sunburn. You will have to use a good amount because sunburn soaks up the gel like a sponge but the aloe does get the best of the sunburn. The gel inside the aloe plant is the best choice and is cheaper than the bottled gels, but you can use the bottled gel as long as it contains a high percentage of the aloe gel, like 99 or 100 percent.

The next best natural treatment is Lavender Essential Oil. When used with Aloe it works very well in soothing the pain and quickly healing the sunburn. Lavender oil promotes new skin growth and heals first-degree burns. Add a drop or two to the aloe gel and apply it over the skin. Sometimes it can be difficult to find the aloe vera plants and the gel with enough aloe in it and it also can sometimes be difficult to get a hold of lavender essential oil, if this is the case you can try some plain yogurt. Yogurt can be used as a natural moisturizer. Apply as much as you need to the sunburn, rubbing it into the skin, and letting it sit for about 10 minutes. Then rinse off the yogurt with boiled water that has been cooled. Afterward, pat your skin dry with a towel. You can do this treatment several times the first day of your sunburn.

Green Tea is much better than the popular ingredient used in most over the counter medications to help reduce the swelling and the sting of sunburn. To make a green tea compress, make a pot of tea and bring it to a boil, then pour it over 1 teaspoon of loose green tea. Cover and let it sit for 5 minutes, and then mix with an equal amount of cool water. When the tea water is cool, soak a clean cloth in it and put it on the sunburned skin for five to ten minutes. You can apply this natural treatment several times a day. The next natural treatment is to take a cool bath to help treat sunburn, but add 1 cup of black tea and 1 cup of apple cider vinegar to effectively treat the sunburn. Black tea helps reduce the swelling and apple cider vinegar helps soothe the pain. You can also add several drops of lavender essential oil to help treat the sunburn.

To naturally treat the pain of sunburn, dissolve three pellets of 6C or 12C Belladonna homeopathy treatment under your tongue three times a day. After you've seen a doctor for blistering and peeling skin, you can take the same dosage of Cantharis homeopathy treatment to help the healing process. The use of antioxidants will always help the immune system bounce back and fight infections and heal the body. For one week only, take 10,000 iu's of vitamin A, 1,000 mgs of vitamin C, and 400 iu's of vitamin E.
