Recently before these green peas I had tried what I believe to be my first bag of just organic green peas that are frozen this year. That bag was of Safeway O Organics Green Peas other than that though all other frozen vegetables that I have had in the past either didn't have peas or had peas with carrots and corn. I thought that the plain peas might be a nice change. I was looking forward to eating the Naturally Preferred Frozen Organic Green Peas and decided to cook some right away. I was very careful to read the cooking instructions as I wanted to make sure that I prepared them correctly. The instructions were easy enough to follow, boil a half cup of water, add frozen peas, bring water back up to a boil, cover and turn down the heat to medium, cook for four to five minutes and stir the peas once during cook time. I did just that and the peas turned out wonderful.
The Naturally Preferred Frozen Organic Green Peas still had a lot of plumpness to them but were also nice and warm. They offered a great flavor which isn't always the case when you are eating frozen vegetables. They had great color to them and all around were something that I was really enjoying and happy that I got them. I happen to have glanced at the ingredients when I was putting the bag back into freezer and it read, organic peas and salt. I thought it was too bad that the peas were pre-salted, just in case you have to have a low sodium diet. Later I went to look at what the nutrition facts were for the salted peas.
In two-thirds of a cup worth of the Naturally Preferred Frozen Organic Green Peas there is seventy calories. The sodium content was rather high with two hundred milligrams in each serving. The rest of the nutrition facts per serving included twelve grams of carbohydrates, four grams of both fiber and sugars and five grams of protein. In the minerals and vitamins section of the nutrition facts it listed vitamin A with eight percent, vitamin C with ten percent and iron with six percent. Each bag contains about three servings and when on sale cost one and a half dollars. I thought that it offered some really good nutrition at a very fair price.
I was happy that I got the Naturally Preferred Frozen Organic Green Peas. They tasted great, offered good nutrition, came at a fair price and the only thing that I didn't care for was the fact that they were pre-salted. Not that this made them taste bad but I just like to have salt-free frozen vegetables if I can help it. I would definitely recommend for anyone to give these organic frozen green peas a try. I am glad that I did and I think that I will be inclined to get them again in the not too distant future.
