Nature Inspired Home DecoLeaf Print Accent Table

Landra Lynn Jacobs
Add a touch of nature to your living space with this leaf print accent table project. Choose natural leaves from your own backyard for a basic appeal or silk leaves from a craft store for a more uniformed look.

For this project, you will need (per accent table):

- One small unfinished wooden accent table or refurbished wooden accent table free if any paints and/or stains

- Several sheets of medium and/or fine grit sandpaper

- Tack cloth or other similar style soft cloth

- Krylon Indoor Outdoor Primer in All-Purpose White

- Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in a bright or dark color of your choice

- Krylon Short Cuts Brush On Paint in Gloss White

- Krylon Polyurethane Sealant Spray in Clear Gloss

- Paper plate

- Leaf

- Small sized craft roller

- Newsprint and/or a large sized drop cloth

Before you begin, you will want to cover the area in which you will be working at with several sheets of old newsprint and/or a large sized dropcloth. Sand the surface of the wood with medium and/or fine grit sandpaper sheets to smooth. Wipe the surface of the wood with a soft cloth or tack cloth to remove sanding dust.

Coat the entire surface of the table with an even layer of Krylon Indoor Outdoor Primer in All-Purpose White. Let the primer set for a couple hours to dry. Paint the table using Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in a bright or dark color of your choice. Keep adding paint coats until you reach a desired hue level. Allow the table to dry overnight.

Pour a bit of Krylon Short Cuts Brush On Paint in Gloss White onto the paper plate. Carefully dip the leaf on one side in the white paint. Set the leaf on the accent table top, making sure not to drip paint. Roll over the leaf with a small craft roller to transfer the leaf print image. Peel the leaf from the table and repeat this process as many times as you wish. Dry completely.

Spray the table with a couple thick coats of Krylon Polyurethane Sealant Spray in Clear Gloss to protect it. Let the table set overnight to dry before using.

TIP: One of the biggest appeals of this project is the bold paint versus the white leaf prints. However, this can be reversed using white as a main color for your table and a dark or bold paint for the leaf prints.
