Nature Valley Crunch Granola Bar Pecan Crunch Vs Other Health Bars

Definitely a Granola Oriented Bar

I love peanut butter and I love crunchy peanut butter so Pecan Crunch jumped out at my when I was hanging out in the cereal, health bar aisle. I've been taste testing my way through the myriad choices and I loved the Nature's Valley Sweet and Salty but I'm always game for something new I bought this box of five crunchy granola bars and tried one.

These are quite a bit different from the South Beach bars that i've become a fan of. I actually regretted getting these when I gave one the first bite. Each package has two bars, thin bars. You get six packages with two thin bars in each package. They are rather spartan, no creamy bottom coat that the South Beach DIet Bars offer. These are your "healthy" bars, crunchy, a little sweet but no frills, skinny, compact. I really didn't get a pecan taste, I tasted something more like Cinnamon. The crunch is nice but not so much as a flavor, texture contrast as the South Beach bars. The SOuth Beach bars by comparison feel like a treat, like a delectable desert, a little reward.

The Nature Valley bars aren't at all chewy, they are very, very crunchy. You can see the bits and pieces of nuts. By offering two to a package you can eat one and leave the other for another time if you're so inclined. With the South Beach bars I tend to eat half and then carry the opened package with the other half around with me until I feel like eating the rest. Regarding carrying these they would travel well, they have nothing in them that would become melted or messy. So, they would be ideal for a lunchbox if you're children take to them. They would work for plane travel, hiking or long rides in the car. THe company advertises Nature Valley bars as the energy bar nature intended. The energy to get you to the place you enjoy. THe site shows wonderful ski areas, the box shows specific golf courses.

Nature Valley has been around since the 1970's and have been promoted as an energy bar, something to carry around when golfing whether you're on the tee box or walking the fairway. They are touted to be a 100% natural source of energy to keep you going through 18 holes. They are190 calories if you eat both of those thin bars. Though they say one bar is 90 calories. The math doesn't work. Calories from fat are 60/30. 0% Cholesterol, 8/5% Dietary Fiber (again the math doesn't make sense), 12 g Sugar and 4/2 g Protein. Carbohydrate choice:2. They are an excellent source of whole grain and have at least 16 grams of whole grain per serving. At least 48 grams is the recommended daily dose.

Ingredients:Whole Grain Rolled Oats, Sugar, Canola oil, Crisp rice with Soy Protein, Rice Flour, Soy Protein concentrate, Sugar Malt, Salt, Soy Lecithin, Baking Soda, Natural Flavors, Brown Sugar Syrup, Pecan pieces, Almond Flour, Peanut Flour. Pecan, Soy, Almond and Peanut ingredients.

They also make Cereals, Fruit Crisps, Trail Mix and Yogurt.

This is a product of General Mills Sales Inc.They also come in Oats 'N Honey and Cinnamon flavor. For me the Sweet & Salty far out does this modest Pecan Crunch. I will offer it to my grandchildren but I'll be going back to the South Beach Diet bars and stocking up.
