Nature Valley Granola Thins are small crisp squares of granola coated on one side with either dark chocolate or peanut butter. Granola Thins are all natural and have only 80 calories each, making it a great afternoon snack with a hint of sweetness to appeal to your sweet tooth. Combine that with the crisp crunch of the granola thin, it makes for an almost perfect snack. Almost because it tastes so darn good, you will want more and the serving size is rather small to be considered a hearty snack.
There are ten servings per box. Each serving is a single individually wrapped pouch making it great for packing in a lunch and throwing into a bag for a quick on the go snack. There are 80 calories in the dark chocolate variety and 90 calories in the peanut butter variety. 35 calories come from fat in the dark chocolate variety and 40 calories come from fat in the peanut butter variety. If you are watching your carb intake, these Granola Thins really aren't that bad of a treat. Each cark chocolate bar contains 11 grams of carbohydrates with less than 1 gram from dietary fiber. And, the peanut butter variety contains 10 grams of carbohydrates with less than 1 gram from dietary fiber.
One contradiction I found in packaging of the dark chocolate variety is that the box says it MAY contain peanuts or walnuts while the individual packaging inside the box has a more firm and direct warning. This is not a problem if you don't have allergies but if you are sending it to school with a child and they have a no nut policy in the school or classroom, this product may not be for you. Obviously, the peanut variety contains nuts. They packaging says it might contain walnuts. One would assume they are made in the same factory and thus the nut warnings on all products from Nature Valley.
Granola Thins Pros - great flavor, two varieties: peanut butter and chocolate, individually wrapped, low in calories, decent price
Granola Thins Cons - small size, flavor coated side melts easily and can be messy
Price - less than 4 dollars a box making each package considerably less than 50 cents each.
