What would you say about a product that will enhance your beauty and relaxation without the use of harsh chemicals or drugs. Now what would you say if I told you that it's right in your own backyard. Hard to believe right, well believe it because it's right there in your herb garden. Many people grow herb gardens for their lush appearance and culinary uses. What most people don't realize is that many of these herbs make wonderful beauty and sleep aids. In this article you will learn several ways use herbs to enhance you beauty and well being.

A time honored beauty secret and an instant way to revive skin is a steam facial infused with herbs. Here is a recipe to make a fantastic herbal steam facial. Boil 4 to 6 cups of water, take 1 1/2 cups of fresh herbs or 3 Tbsp of dried herbs and place in a large bowl, then pour the boiling water onto the herbs, stir gently. Place a towel over you head and the bowl. Be sure to place your face no more than 12 inches from the water, so as not to burn you skin. Lift a corner of the towel whenever you feel the need for more air. For optimal effects the facial should last between 10 and 15 minutes. When you are finished rinse you face first with warm water then with cool water.

Now it's time to continue your pampering. You can make a great face mask with the herbs you just used for your steam facial. Just strain the herbs, mix them with oatmeal that you have processed into a powder with a food processor or blender and enough water to make a consistency that will easily spread over you face without dripping. Allow the mask to dry then gently wipe the mask off your face with a warm washcloth. Next rinse your face with cool water and pat dry. You will feel great and your skin will thank you.

Here are some herbs for specific skin types. For normal to dry skin use Clover, Cornflower, Fennel, Parsley, or Violet. For normal to oily skin use Rose petals, Sage, Lavender, or Lemon grass. Of course it can be fun to get creative and use a mixture of 2 or more herbs. For my oily skin I find that a mixture Lavender and Rose petals work wonders.

To look you best sleep is essential. One way to get a great night of rest naturally is with a homemade herbal pillow. These are surprisingly easy to make. Simply place dried and crushed herbs in a 12 inch square muslin bag, but be careful not to stuff the bags too full. The herbs need some room to rub against each other to achieve the best possible fragrance. It is also a good idea to add a couple of drops of essential oil, as this will enhance the fragrance even more. After you have made your pillow cover it with a nice pillow case, cuddle up to it and enjoy a restful nights sleep. Some herbs are better than others to use in an herbal pillow. I find that the best ones for this use are Rose, Lavender, Hops, Chamomile, Rosemary, Marjoram, Lemon-Verbena, and Violet.

As you can see there are simple and natural ways to Bring out your beauty and enhance your well being, and they don't have to cost you one cent. I believe that once you try what mother nature has to offer you will never go back to store bought again.

Many spas offer these same treatments and charge an arm and a leg, but you can do them just as well if not better for free.
