I will have to say that I am very pleasantly surprised at Nature's Gate toothpaste. I was under the impression that it wasn't sweetened. I thought a brand I got years ago, that wasn't sweetened and was bland, was Nature's Gate. But I figure now it was another brand.
I love the taste of the toothpaste! A note, anise taste similar to black licorice. If you do not like licorice you will not like this toothpaste flavor. On the other hand if you like licorice you will love this toothpaste. It taste like you are brushing your teeth with licorice candy. I want to eat it every time I brush but, of course, I don't. The taste makes me look forward to brushing, as weird as that sounds.
Taste aside, how does it clean? Very well! It has baking soda which helps gently scrub teeth clean and it has calcium to strengthen teeth. My mouth always feels fresh and my teeth feel nice and smooth after I get done brushing.
The best part is it does not have preservatives, artificial colors, sweeteners or flavors and it doesn't have fluoride which can go either way for different people. I don't know what it is sweetened with I looked for xylitol or stevia in the ingredients but none were there. It is very sweet, in a good way. But, I don't know where the sweetness is coming from. Maybe the anise is naturally that sweet?! Either way it is not synthetic so it is fine with me.
My only complaint is this toothpaste has Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, a by-product that helps toothpaste foam. I would expect a natural toothpaste to not have it as an ingredient but they seem to have left it in. I plan on contacting the company to see why they chose to leave this health controversial ingredient in their natural toothpaste.
I would and plan to buy this toothpaste again. I absolutely love the taste of this toothpaste and it cleans great, like toothpaste should. So, Nature's Gate Creme de Anise Natural toothpaste will be on the top of my list when my next toothpaste purchase comes around.

Post a CommentI usually get Tom's of Maine, and yes, your right, this Natures Gate Creme de Anise is absolutely awesome if you like Anise. It takes like black licorice.. or an Anise pizzelle.. or Sambuca. Yum.
Great review of the toothpaste, but not something I would choose (expect maybe another flavor) because I am not so fond of black licorice flavor.
