Nature's Gate Organics Fruit Blend Deodorant in Asian Pear & Red Tea

The Pen
I like wearing deodorants that are aluminum free, and when I ran out of my old one I went to Whole Foods to buy a new stick. I wanted to find a deodorant that worked, but one that also smelled good, so I started smelling random ones. The one scent that I was really drawn to was the Asian Pear & Red Tea fragrance by Nature's Gate, because it was so unusual, especially for a deodorant. I liked it so much that I bought a stick.

Scent of
Nature's Gate Organics Fruit Blend Deodorant in Asian Pear & Red Tea

The Asian Pear Red Tea scent is really unusual. It's very strong in the package and smells tart like the essence of 100 pears were crammed into it. It also has a sweetness as well as a spicy kick. When it's applied to the skin it becomes softer, but it's still a bit loud for a deodorant.

I love the scent because it's unique, but I don't think it's one that everyone would love.

Results After Using
Nature's Gate Organics Fruit Blend Deodorant in Asian Pear & Red Tea

I've used glycerin based deodorants before but this one felt slicker than the ones by other brands I've tried like Alba's. I first used it when the weather was warm and it would feel really sticky 20 or 30 minutes after I applied it. It made my skin feel itchy and irritated, even though it's supposed to be hypoallergenic. Over time though the irritation passed.

To test out how effective it was I wore the Asian Pear Red Tea by itself on a day when I didn't have to go out or move around a lot. After only a few hours it began to slide right off my skin and so did the protection, and it was welcome to funky town.

I'm used to glycerin based deodorants sucking. So I always use a crystal rock deodorant on my underarms first for odor protection and then I use a glycerin stick over it to help prevent excess sweating. When I do this with Nature's Gate I stay protected the whole day. The Nature's Gate deodorant doesn't slide off as quickly, it helps to absorb sweat, and it gives me a fun fresh scent, even if it lasts for only a few hours.

In the End...

This deodorant has a spicy and tart scent that is really unusual, but on its own it's really ineffective especially for the price & it deserves about 2 stars. I'd buy it again though just for the fun scent, but I will always have to use a crystal deodorant first.
