Tea has been around for generations. It has been served in the Orient with style, ceremony and grace. It was a tradition of family time and a quick pick up in England to Lords and Ladies. In America it was a good strong drink until replaced with coffee when the west was settled. But tea has never lost favor with society.

From ice tea in the southern states to the comfort of hot tea and milk during the cold days of winter we can be sure it will never fade away. Every kind, scent and type of tea is available. In our country we grow many herbs for specialty teas, but some of the best are common plants that grow wild. However, tea has many uses other than to drink so read on and learn what else tea can do in your life.

1. Spent too much time in the sun without your sun block? Just take a wet tea bag of any kind and place on the skin where affected. It helps to take the sting out of the burn. If you have an overall sunburn then add tea bags to a cool bath and spend some time soaking. It cools and relieves the burn so you can sleep.

2. For relief of tired eyes soak two tea bags is warm water and place over your closed eyes for 20 minutes. The tannins in the tea act to reduce the puffiness and sooth your eyes.

3. Are you nursing your first baby and the nipples are sore to the touch? Just brew a couple of tea bags in hot water and then remove and place in ice. Once the tea bags are cold place them on the sore nipples and cover with a nursing pad or towel. After a short while the tannic acid in the wet tea leaves will help to sooth and heal your sore nipples.

4. Control foot odor by soaking your tired feet in a strong solution of cool tea water every day for a week. Soon you'll notice the odor disappear. You only have to soak your feet for 20 minutes at a time, but it will become your best time of the day as the odor leaves and your feet relax.

5. If you have recently had yourself a strong pot of tea and there is left over let it cool and use it to clean your mirrors. With a soft cloth you will have a sparkle and shine unlike you have ever seen. This is so simple it seems unreal, but it really works.

6. If you love to grow roses you can give them a mid summer treat by sprinkling loose tea leaves around the plant. Cover with mulch and when you water your plants the tea will release nutrients into the soil. Roses love the tannic acid which is found in tea and the blooms will last longer and be stronger.

Now you have the secrets of tea and it's many uses. Tea is an inexpensive and very environmentally accepted product. So save those tea bags and make them work for you!
