Nature's Heartbeat

Jill P. Viers
Nature's heartbeat

The sounds of birds chirping

Of winds blowing through the trees

The rustling of leaves

The pets abound, taking it all in

The children laughing and learning about the world

It's all slightly overtaken

By the sounds of the dump truck

And the stylized, personalized cell phone ring tones

And the people talking so loudly on their phones

That they must think that they're alone

The sounds of glass bottles breaking

As people have had too much to drink

And washing machines beating away

And doors loudly creaking

If you pay close attention,

You can push it all away

And get back to Nature's heartbeat

Great poem..... brings back that feeling of just needing to get away from all the noise sometimes.
