Nature's Own Light Honey Wheat Bread: Healthy Bread Options

A Practical Substitute when You're Dieting and Craving Cake!

JRS
Our office had organized a '˜Fat Camp' in order to encourage and help those of us interested in losing weight and getting in shape for the upcoming summer. It was only my second day of dieting when I was hit with an attack from the incredibly sweet tooth I have.

It was after 8pm and I was having trouble staving off cravings for a slice of Giant Foods' Vanilla yellow cake.

I tried distracting myself, keeping busy, working on something, talking to someone, taking a walk, drinking water, chewing gum, and finally thinking of healthier alternatives that I could have in place of the cake.

When none of these worked, I caved and found myself on the road to Giant Foods in hopes they had some freshly made yellow cake with vanilla icing.

Being out of the closed in house, and into the cool night air somehow made my cravings less intense. I was not able to think a little more clearly. I tried again to employ one of my own personal '12-step' techniques for dieting and began thinking of healthier food alternatives I could use as a substitute for the delicious, but high calorie yellow cake.

In examining the various wheat breads that Giants carried, I found my best option to be Honey Wheat Bread by Nature's Own. Nature's Own also carries a regular wheat bread with the same calorie content.

While most breads seemed to range between 70 and 110 calories per slice, Nature's Own Honey Wheat bread was only 40 Calories a slice. I could eat 2 entire slices for only 80 calories! Plus this light bread had no artificial Preservatives, colors, or flavors! I had to pay over $2.00 for a 16oz., loaf but I must say that it was worth it. Especially after I began eating a slice. The texture was soft and the taste somewhat sweet. I could feel the grains in the bread as I chewed. With 5grams or 2x the fiber of other brands, I was halfway through a slice when I began feeling satisfied. Not to mention the satisfying aroma I was hit with when I opened the loaf!

Nature's Own Light Honey Wheat bread has 25% less sodium than other enriched honey wheat breads! It has 1/3 fewer calories, plenty of protein and fiber, no trans fat, AND it tastes delicious!

Nature's Own Light Honey Wheat bread is a whole grain food as recommended in the USDA Food Guide Pyramid at www.mypyramid.gov.
