Navajo Skin Care Exfoliating Body Wash Review

Review of Rainwater and All-Natural Body Wash in Fresh Citrus Scent

Nina Rotz
Recently, I had a chance to try Navajo Skin Care's exfoliating body wash. The Navajo body wash is made from pure oils and rainwater, which to me sounded so interesting. I've never bathed in rainwater, but I sure wanted to try Navajo's body wash and share my thoughts in a review. As a woman with sensitive skin, I have to be extra careful with body washes and beauty products. I often try a new store bought product and end up loving it, but eventually my skin reacts to it. To solve this problem, I've turned to all-natural and organic beauty products. I prefer body washes and gels with ingredients that I can pronounce, instead of chemicals and scientific names.

Navajo Skin Care Exfoliating Body Wash: Label and Ingredients
Navajo Skin Care's body wash came in a dark amber plastic bottle and on the label was an expiration date. I found it peculiar that my body wash was set to expire on May 20, 2010. I had to check out Navajo Skin Care's website to see what the reasons for that were. According to their website, the date is used for freshness and to help achieve quality results from oil blends used to make the product. I found this feature to be thoughtful and helpful to customers. The ingredients listed on the back label of the bottle are as simple as it gets; rainwater, coconut oil, olive oil, avocado butter, castor oil, macadamia nut oil, sunflower oil, honeysuckle extract, pumice and essential oils. According to their website, Sasha Inchi Oil, Primrose and Tamanu Oilare also used. Moisturized oils are also fortified with Vitamin A, C, E and Vitamin K2. By far, my favorite feature of Navajo Skin Care's exfoliating body wash is that the ingredients were pure, natural and that there was no chemical additives used.

Navajo Skin Care Exfoliating Body Wash: Scent
I always check the scent of a body wash before purchasing it. There is something so important about the way a product smells, especially if it will be applied to my skin. At first sniff, I did not like the way Navajo Skin Care's exfoliating body wash smelled out of the bottle. It smelled masculine, woodsy and with a hint of nut oil. My husband even commented that it smelled too strong, and that I may not like using the body wash. He did not smell it in the shower though, and that part changed my mind. The smell of Navajo's body wash completely changed once water touched it. The shower transformed into a light and citrus vapor. I smelled lemongrass, which is one of my favorite scents. The woodsy, nutty smell was gone and I was glad I gave this body wash a second chance. As that old saying says, I did not judge the book by its cover and it was well worth it.

Navajo Skin Care Exfoliating Body Wash: Lathering
Applying the body wash on a loofah was okay but nothing impressive. The lather was not rich and there was no fun soap scuds to play with. I preferred applying the body wash on my hand and then lathering up. That produced a few more bubbles and better results. I did notice on the label that a pump was supposed to dispense foam. My bottle came with just a top and not pump, so perhaps that was a part of my bubble problem.

Navajo Skin Care Exfoliating Body Wash: The Feel
The most important part of a body wash review is of course the way it made my skin feel. I have to say that Navajo's body wash certainly left a rich and moisturizing layer of softness on my skin. It did not feel oily or overpowering. It certainly did leave my skin soft and silky, without a trace of dry skin. The body wash was only used on my body and not on my face. I did make an important discovery that my face was extremely dry but my hands and body are still soft to the touch. Navajo Skin Care's body wash is also supposed to be exfoliating, which is probably why pumice is used as one of the ingredients. I cannot say that I felt exfoliation as I normally do with beaded body washes.

Overall, I was very impressed by Navajo Skin Care's exfoliating body wash. I'm glad I gave this product a try and that I did use it despite first scent reservations. I've used the product several times and only a small amount is necessary to get the cleaning job done. It seems like a customer would get a good value and a high quality product out of an 8oz bottle of body wash. The price of an 8oz bottle of Navajo's body wash is $14.99, which is competitive and fair when compared to other organic and all-natural brands that I have tried. As far as long term usage goes, I can see that my sensitive skin has still benefited from the body wash without cracking or drying out. I would certainly recommend the product to any other women suffering from sensitive skin, especially in dry winter months.

How interesting, Nina. It is true that often the scent of a body wash changes a lot when applied to skin in the shower.

Members of the American Retailers Market Place- purchasing co-op of independent pharmacies has the Navajo Skin Care line. Glitzz in the Colorado Mills Mall also has the full line of Navajo Skin Care Products. Otherwise online is your option.
