As we get into the detail of the game, there are a few things we should note about NBA 2k7. First thing we would like to look at is the multiplayer aspect of the game, which is probably the best feature in my opinion. Not only does every person get to experience nearly lag free gameplay while playing in multiplayer mode, but the gameplay is so realistic that it actually makes you feel like you're actually at the game and this is something I especially like about this game. Microsoft hasn't always been the best with the creation of their controllers, but the controls in this game are very good and easy to learn. The only thing you might have trouble with is the toggling between players when you want to pass the basketball around, but this can be learned in a matter of a couple of hours max, if not then you can just tap A to pass to the nearest player, I believe. With a plethora of plays embedded in the games memory, you can literally choose which plays you want, although the game does have default ones selected already. I like the way the coaching system is ran since you can basically make up your own plays if you feel the need to, I like it a lot better then NBA Live's. Last but not least, we get into the shooting aspect of the game. When you are going up for a shot, you will notice in the top left corner of the screen that it will say whether or not you had a perfect release, good release, OK release or bad release. All of these tips will allow you to improve on how you shoot the basketball as this will determine whether or not you will make it or not. You may also use the right analog stick to control your shot better too.
Graphically, this game is not the best and I would have to say that it's a close battle to Live 07, but graphics aren't the only factor that make up a video game. I must say that the shots are extremely realistic to the ones that the pros have in real life, so that's a definite plus. I would have liked to see the defensive style of gameplay improved a bit as I see a little too many fouls on the defensive end, which should be a little more open. While no game is perfect, NBA 2k7 does a great job in this basketball simulation and I wouldn't be surprised if it continued to stay at the top of Live 07 forever.
