NBA Draft Night Trade Rumors: Good Deal/Bad Deal?

Pistons, Bobcats Rumors

Nick Meyer

The NBA Draft is heating up and some trade rumors have been stirred up in the past few days, although many teams are using smokescreens as always.

After Adrian Wojnarowski said Charlotte, Sacramento and Milwaukee have finished making a deal allowing the Bobcats to move up, the question now is whether the Detroit Pistons might be more likely to move their #8 pick as well.

Charlotte could be targeting Texas PF Tristan Thompson or perhaps Congo big man Bismack Biyombo. It's no secret that the Bobcats are Bobcats are built around defense and that they love shot blockers.

The Pistons coveted those two as well so they could be left in the cold if both of them are gone.

The Kings might want Kahwi Leonard of San Diego State and they can probably get him further down the draft. It is not known if the Pistons would want Leonard or not considering how many forwards they already have in the fold.

That means a trade with Houston for the #14 and #23 picks now seems much more likely for Detroit.

If Detroit were to trade down they would likely target the best available player at #14, hopefully a big man who can block shots, and a point guard most likely at #23. The Pistons also have a high second round pick as well so the team could maybe even take another point guard since it's a deep spot and that would create healthy competition, or they could take a foreign player who is a project or maybe someone to stash overseas for a little while.

The Spurs have used that model for a while now and Detroit is one of the most active teams on the scouting scene internationally.

The Pistons would have perhaps a salary issue signing two first rounders but it depends on what is done with Tayshaun Prince, Tracey McGrady and some other players that may or may not be back with the team next year.

Another draft night trade rumor involves the Hawks looking to potentially ship Josh Smith, the athletic forward, out of town to Minnesota in hopes of drafting big man Enes Kanter.

The Hawks have bee playing without a true center for a long time and Kanter could fill the void. The team is said to be infatuated with him according to CBS Sports' website and it seems as if they really want to make the move happen. The question is how well Smith would fit in with the TWolves.

Also, the Hawks don't seem to have a problem that Kanter didn't get a chance to show off his skills last season the way he wanted to do, They seem set on trying to obtain him.

Beyond the 2011 NBA Draft Night trade rumors, there is sure to plenty of intrigue with each team's selection as we go down the line in what could be a subpar in terms of superstars but still surprisingly deep draft.
