Miami GM Pat Riley has had the luxury of creating this super team, but I have constructed my own fantasy team filled with players whose last names begin with the letter E.
Here is my roster, including numerous Hall of Famers, based on stats from www.basketball-reference.com.
First Team:
Center - Patrick Ewing: The Hall of Fame Knick, who in college led Georgetown to a championship final, averaged 21 pts and 10 rebounds during his NBA career. He was also an impressive defender who amassed almost 3000 career blocks.
Forward - Sean Elliott: This member of the dominant San Antonio team of the 90s averaged 15 points per game in his career, including 20 per game during the '95-'96 season.
Forward - Alex English: One of the prolific scorers during the 80s, this Hall of Famer averaged 21.5 points per game. He led the NBA in 82-83 when he scored 28.5 points per game with the Nuggets.
Guard - Dale Ellis: In a lengthy career he averaged 16 points per game, including a streak of 20 per game from '86-90 as a member of the Sonics.
Guard - Julius Erving : Dr. J, now a Hall of Famer, averaged 24 points and 8.5 rebounds during his career, mostly as a Sixer. He also led the ABA in scoring three times with the Squires and Nets.
Second Team:
Center - James Edwards: 13 pts, 5 Rebs As a member of the Pacers, Suns, Pistons and Lakers from the late 70s through the 90s, "Buddha" averaged 13 points and 5 rebounds per game.
Forward - Wayne Embry: His 12 points and 9 rebounds per game from '58-'69 helped make him a popular member of the Cincinnati Royals.
Forward - Jim Eakins: After being drafted out of Brigham Young University in '68, Eakins went on to average 10 points and 8 rebounds per game, mostly for Virginia in the ABA.
Guard - Kevin Edwards: The first round pick from DePaul ended his NBA career averaging 11 points per game, mostly with the Heat and Nets in the 90s.
Guard - Blue Edwards: Blue's nest season in 92-92 when he averaged 17 points per game with the Bucks. His overall career average was 11 points playing for several different teams.
