The Los Angeles Lakers are not out for revenge. Yeah, whatever. After being picked to win the 2008 Finals against the Boston Celtics the Lakers were shocked in a 6 game series that showcased the Celtics ability to dominate the floor. A bitter Lakers fan might argue that the Celtics BIG 3 were younger and sharper in those days and that Rajon Rondo was making his first strides into super stardom (not even close to the play-making ability we have seen thus far throughout the 2010 Playoffs) but I don't necessarily believe that. In my opinion, the Celtics were by far the better team in 2008. My opinion is different this year.
The Lakers will be NBA champions...again. Kobe Bryant's legacy continues to grow and I imagine in 20 years his name will be jut as recognizable as Michael Jordan's. With Bryant leading the way, Gasol's impressive playoff run in 210, Artest's ability to play shut down defense, and a healthier Andrew Bynum the Lakers will add another trophy to the case. The Lakers played overall consistent basketball throughout the regular season and have looked good during the playoffs. Kobe Bryant has come to life in big game situations and players like Pau Gasol and Derek Fisher have also stood out in several big games.
Since 2008, I truly believe that the Celtics have improved their roster much more than the Lakers. The Lakers have added Ron Artest, but have a very similar roster compared to the 2008 team. The Celtics on the other hand have added Rasheed Wallace and Nate Robinson and players such as Glen Davis, Rajon Rondo, and Tony Allen have stepped up throughout the playoffs. So why am I picking the Lakers to win? Kobe Bryant (A.K.A. The best finisher in the game). There is no way to describe Kobe Bryant's desire to win. The closest thing it resembles is Michael Jordan's desire to win. When Kobe wants to make a shot, he will make that shot, or else get fouled in the process of shooting. He is the best basketball player in the world.
I am not a Lakers fan, nor a Celtics fan, but I will be rooting for the Celtics in this years NBA Finals. I have become a fan of Rajon Rondo this year and I know he has a huge desire to win. I have watched the BIG 3 play for years (including when they were with their previous teams) and I respect the play making ability of all three. Kobe Bryant is just too good. He is almost like a machine. When he wants to turn himself on, he can't miss. When the machine is powered up it can't be stopped, which is why I predict the Lakers will win in 6 games.
