NBA General Managers Need to Smarten Up and Trade for Allen Iverson Before it is Too Late

I myself would like to ask why Allen Iverson has not yet been traded and is not playing in NBA games again after a week off. I miss watching the SportsCenter top 10 at 1:00 AM and seeing at least one of his best plays of the night. It is not clear why Iverson is not being traded; but I believe that there are two distinct reasons.

One of those reasons being that he has quite a history off of the court. Whether it is getting in trouble with the law or making a rap album that is not quite "appropriate" for his young fans, Iverson never seems to lack the spotlight on or off the court.

The second reason that Iverson has not yet been traded is because the 76ers management is simply asking too much. They have made several outrageous trade proposals, especially asking for all three of the Charlotte Bobcats starts in exchange for Iverson.

Philadelphia 76er's GM Billy King is feeling the pressure of this second reason now because the 76ers have emerged as one of the worst teams in the NBA without Iverson. When I wrote this they were 5-18 with a last place standing in the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference. The team needs the stars that Philadelphia will acquire with the trading of Iverson to boost their morale back up.

I believe that Allen Iverson is the best guard in the NBA and deserves more credit then he is getting. The guy is a perennial All-Star, has won the MVP, was named 53rd on the Slam Magazine top 75 players of all time, and is the idol of millions of kids across the globe. In addition to all of these accolades, Iverson is know as being an ironman who plays through injuries and very rarely misses games, another feature that NBA teams love.

Teams should be willing to deal big name stars for Iverson. So what if he has problems off of the court? The bottom line is that he will contribute for you. General Managers across the league need to look past these negative aspects of A.I. and realize just how much of a help that he could be to their franchise. NBA teams need to smarten up now before it is too late and Iverson is off the trade market for good.
