Do you remember the old days where you would play basketball on Sega genesis NBA Jam? When you had little stick figures running around making you think that was the end of the graphical technology. Those days are over now. There is a new highflying ankle breaking game on the market. NBA LIVE 2006. EA sports have been in business for a long time now. This is their 11t installment and there has been a lot of tweaking that's been done. However, it seems that they are giving their audience what they have been wanting for a long time.
The Game
NBA 06 brings back control of your players as well as controlling your opponents' ankle breaking. This year they have added quite a few things. Play makers, who are your star players who have special talents such as shooting from downtown, blocking, dunking etc. These makes it that much easier for you to take over the game just as if the superstars do in real life.
All-Star Mode
NBA Live does have some ups and down, but it has been improving those things every ear they have put out a game. The best part about this NBA LIVE 06 is its dunking contests and all-star weekends. This is where you are able to choose, any player or team you desire and go through different all-star modes. What a great add-on in NBA Live 06 but was really improved because of the graphics and commentary.
Controls
Controlling your player is much easier and much more thrilling because now you are able to show off in front of your friends because of the control you have in the air, which was not possible in 05 but is now possible in this installment.
Dynasty
The best reshaping has to go to dynasty mode. These is where you are able to build your own team and try to help them reach the big times "NBA Finals" You are the coach you are the scout you are everything in one. You are controlling everything your players and everything outside of the locker room. You can even control your own ticket prices, because as we all know the more people come to your games the better the players are going to play.
Graphics / Sound
Having come out with an all-new graphic engine, these are the most realistic-looking players to date. They shine very well, with the clarity; beautiful superstar animation the game flows smoothly and feels more and more like you are in the game. You can even see the players flex their muscles when they score or dunk on someone. The graphics are superb.
The sound is quite extraordinary, but lacks a little bit on the commentary end. Marv Albert and Steve Kerr are the people who provide the commentary. Marv Albert does a real nice job, making the game flow smoothly, but Steve Kerr lacks in that department. There are definitely a few bugs make the commentaries lacks the consistency of the flow but it does not take away the All-Star game weekend where, Ernie Johnson and Kenny "The Jet" Smith do a very smooth job flowing the all-star weekend along. It makes the all-star mode even that much more fun to play because of the fluent flow.
Closing Comments
This is definitely one of my favorite basketball games thus far. With the superstar playmakers and highlighted ankle breaking moves, I am able to capture myself in a magical zone of NBA LIVE 06. This is for anyone who has wanted something that is not arcade version of space jam or old school sticky figures. This is for the simple and yet hardcore fans of basketball. Anyone can enjoy this game because it has many features that will keep you on your couch for hours.
