NBA LIVE Video Game Franchise Changes Title into NBA Elite

Good Move by EA Sports?

EA Sports has finally decided to change the name of their basketball franchise to NBA Elite according to www.ea.com/games/nba-elite and www.easports.com. It is hard to say if it was a decent move on their part since the NBA Live, or should I say, the NBA Elite series has fallen to mediocrity over the years due to the success of the NBA 2k series. NBA Live has definitely had its great moments in the sun, but after 2005, the game's substance crumbled. EA Sports surprised basketball fans with the release of their NBA Live 2005 game back in 2004. This game in particular featured some of the most fantastic graphics, controls, and bonuses ever seen on a basketball video game. In NBA Live 2005, you would take on the role as the General Manager of the NBA franchise of your choice under the regular season mode.

Once EA Sports released the long awaited NBA Live 2006 game for the Playstation, Xbox, and PC, fans and gamers alike felt cheated. The game was nearly the exact same thing as the previous one released in 2004. I decided to stop purchasing NBA Live games after 2006 just to start playing with the 2k series. In recent years, NBA Live clearly became the second favorite basketball game among fans behind the NBA 2k series. It all started with the release of NBA 2K6 by "2k Sports" during the fall of 2005. NBA 2K6 had displayed some of the most amazing effects ever seen on a basketball game and started garnering positive reviews from game critics across the nation. The NBA 2K franchise has shown no signs whatsoever on slowing down since they keep adding new innovations to their games. You can visit the official 2k sports site at www.2ksports.com.

As for NBA Elite 2011, it does not look very promising at all since some of the glitches from previous games still remain. I am in no way bashing the NBA Live franchise since I basically grew up playing their fun games. I recommend on purchasing NBA 2K11 since it features none other than the man himself, Michael Jordan. Believe it or not, it was actually the NBA Live franchise who introduced fans to an interactive Michael Jordan. This happened back in 2000, when NBA Live decided to unleash many basketball legends from the past from the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s.
