Offense
When you talk about how well each player can score, they are right about even. Both can put up 40 anytime they want. But each of them do it a little bit differently. At 6'8 and 240 pounds, Lebron James uses his great strength and quickness to get to the paint. This is why he's a nightmare for interior defenses. As great as Lebron James is though, I'd consider Wade the better penetrator. He's not only one of the quickest and strongest players you'll find at 6'3, but he's also great at getting shots in seemingly the most impossible places. That's because of his great jumping ability, mental control, and how he's almost like a contortionist in the paint.
As far as shooting ability, neither are great shooters, mid-range or outside. But Lebron gets the nod because Wade's range is limited to the mid-range, even though he's improved and can hit the outside shot once in a while.
Dwyane Wade is the better ball handler, with a better crossover. Which is helped by his great quickness.
Not only are these two of the best scorers in the NBA, but these two players are great at getting there teammates involed when needed. When you dominate the ball as much as they do, you better. Lebron is the better passer, he has better vision, vision we haven't seen from a guy his size since Magic. Dwyane Wade has some good vision as well, but it's not on Lebron's level.
Defense
Neither James or Wade are particularly good one on one defenders. That's probably the biggest weak-point in their games. But they do have something for them. They both wreak havoc in the passing lanes, and Dwyane Wade is one of the better blocking guards in the league. If I had to chose who's the better defender, I'm definitely going with Dwyane Wade.
Miscellaneous
Potential wise, they both can go down as one of the greatest at their positions. But with Lebron, I see him potentially being the greatest player of all time. People need to remember that he's only 22 years old. Wade is 24 going on 25.
Even though Lebron didn't go through College, and he is only 21. He's a better leader then Dwyane Wade. Lebron led a team to 50 games with Eric Snow point guard. And he's better at getting his team involves when they need it. Though Wade can get his teammates involved, he struggles to get wins without Shaq. I know that we have an old Miami team on our hands, but it Wade was a better leader, that team would not be under .500 like they are now.
When you think about rebounding there is no contest. It's obviously Lebron.
Who would win one on one? I'd pick Lebron. They probably won't stop each other, but I'd give James the upper hand. He's taller, stronger, and is more athletic which is why I think he would be superior in a nice game of 21.
Overall
This a tough tough choice. But I, and I think most general managers in the league would pick James. He just has everything you would look for, and because of his young age, he's most likely going to give you more great years and get better along the way. But this definitely isn't a knock on Wade, he will most likely be known as one of the greatest guards to play the game when his career is over.
